5.0 out of 5 stars Fun book for my 5 year old
My 5 year old is just starting to read and this was a great book for him to work his way through. Buyer beware - This is more advanced then a Bob's Books type series.

1.0 out of 5 stars Violent book for young children
Children learn a lesson from this book, violence rules. Transformers is a prime example of marketing violence to young children. Why would Harper Collins irresponsibly produce these violent little books for young children? Violence sells. This review is from: Transformers: Meet the Autobots (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
I give any book 5 stars if it will can a child to sit and read it! This book went over very well with my friend's 4 year old boy, so I would recommend it.

This review is from: Transformers: Meet the Autobots (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
I bought this book for my 6-year old son. He likes it very much and he is very proud of reading the book by himself. Additionally, the pictures are very nice and vivid.

5.0 out of 5 stars If your child is ready for a little bit harder book..., July 27, 2011
This review is from: Transformers: Meet the Autobots (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
Reading is something my husband and I love, but most kids books - especially new reader books - are just not interesting enough to keep his attention - so we bough him a few transformer books and he loved them!

PROS

* READING LEVEL IS A BIT HARDER - If you have a new reader that has mastered the basics (like fundamental sight words, phonics concepts, etc) then this book is at the right level (2). There are enough sight words to keep the story moving as well as "sound out" words for expanding his vocabulary.

* ENGAGING STORY - One of the hardest things to do is to create an engaging story that a child can read alone. This story is interesting enough that my son WANTS to read it and re-read it. To me that is critical if you want your child's reading to improve.

* EXCITING PICTURES - One of the important things to new readers is to have pictures that easily relate to the story. This book has done a great job of bringing the words to life and keeping my son's interest.

CONS
* NOT FOR MY DAUGHTER - No, this may seem stereotypical, but my daughter has absolutely no interest in this book. Sorry, but if you have a little girl, try the My Little Pony ones which, according to my little girl are "much more interesting."

We got this along Transformers: Meet the Decepticons (I Can Read Book 2) and Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen: Rise of the Decepticons (I Can Read Book 2) and my 5 year old son loves them (I have to admit that I like them too!). The graphics are really nice and these are read over and over in our house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Transformers!, May 18, 2010

This is a good choice for a child learning to read on their own but needs a little help. My son is 7 and he has a little trouble with some of the words but that is where dad and I come in! If you can get them reading it's great, and get them reading about something THEY like and it's even better! Whatever it takes to gear them towards reading. I'd recommend this book and would buy it again.

My son likes the pictures, but he refuses to read this book. Some of the words are more advanced than basic reading and the sentence structure is very poor.

Propaganda at its finest. Almost reads like a Bible story.

Stereotype alert!!!! Believers will love it. Brights/Humanists will want their money back.
