Super fun, does have load noises, VERY durable.
Has sat out in the rain and it still works.

Whoa! A transforming gun! This gun works really well, and is better designed than most of the other toys of this type. This toy makes different pew-pew sounds depending on whether it has transformed or not. The transforming mechanism is smooth and well done, and the large grab handle make it very easy for young kids to pull of the transformation. The gun is mostly very durable - my only worry is the two flaps on top that open and close during transformation. They feel kind of thin and might eventually get broken off after being tossed and thrown around. But so far so good.

In addition to the trigger, there is a small button to the left side of the finger guard, it appears to dupplicate the function of the trigger in generating sound effects. On the right side of the finger guard is a 3-way switch, off is in the middle. Up is demo mode, where it cycles through all sound effects regardless of transformation mode. Down is the normal position, where it plays different sounds depending on transformation mode. I didn't notice this switch until a month after getting the toy. Hey, who reads the instructions any more.

There was a problem with the toy though, which is that the gun barrel that pops out is not perfectly level. When I first got the gun, the barrel had an upward slant to it, making it look retarded. Note that in the product picture here on Amazon.com, the gun barrel is kind of droopy. When I disassembled the gun, I found that there is a cam that regulates what angle the gun barrel points when transformed. Unable to reposition the cam, I simply took an exacto knife to trim some materials. But I was careful not to trim too much because it's impossible to fix a droopy gun barrel.

In case anyone is wondering, this is just slightly too tight for adult male hands to hold comfortably. You can squeeze in, but after 5 minutes it becomes kind of uncomfortable for all involved. :P

I just gave this toy to my three year-old nephew. He wouldn't put the gun down after he opened it. The gun is easy to transform and with the noise and lights, it is really a fun toy. Highly recommendable for a little child.

This is a toy that is great for a little while then it gets forgot about in the toy room and found a few months later and entertains them for another hour or so. I guess I like the laser tag or things like that better, my boys love that and play with it all the time. However this is much better than picking up darts everywhere like with the nerf guns. But that is just coming from a mom who hates picking up darts everywhere AFTER the boys have picked them up! :)
