Bumblebee Broke!,

Bumblebee broke today while my son was trying to transform him. He's heartbroken. He wasn't throwing it, he was sitting on an airplane trying to transform it and one piece that holds another snapped in half.
Barricade? Too frustrating for words. Just as you are close to getting him back into car mode, pieces will pop out and "untransform". This is when adults are trying. Grrrr.....

I had many original Transformers in the 1980's, sadly most of them have been lost, ruined, or stolen over the years. My first was the police car Autobot Prowl, back when I naively believed the propaganda that all cops were good. That may be what attracted me to the Bumblebee / Barricade / Frenzy package, an evil police car (Michael Bay himself loved this), and the seemingly low $30 price I paid for 3 robots.
I found Bumblebee and Barricade a bit more difficult to transform without looking at the instructions, than many original Transformers were, Bumblebee is easier to transform than Barricade is. Bumblebee also has 2 cool missile launchers than can go into any of his 4 wheels or in his hands, but are not hide-able in his car mode. A few of Bumblebee's parts even transform automatically as you move other parts! The backs of Bumblebee's legs are the only detraction in an otherwise very cool toy. Barricade has ridiculous arms, way too long in the shoulders, the left arm spring punch is silly and annoying as it can interfere with transformation, and it has no guns or weapons at all. The arms and feet can be snapped off rather too easily, but they also snap right back into place easily, some designer was clever here! The connector between chest and abdomen is rickety at best. I cannot find the Decepticon symbol anywhere on Frenzy, the symbols on Barricade are very small and inside his 2 police shields. Kinda stupid for a Transformer to display his symbols while in disguised mode. Frenzy does come out of a well-hidden spot on Barricade's front grill, looks nothing like the original Frenzy that came out of Soundwave, does not transform into a cassette (like the classic Frenzy) nor a tape deck (like the new Frenzy). This Frenzy is a TransfoLDer, its head and legs just fold over onto its chest, and the feet are stuck together in one piece. My advice is to just get Bumbleebee, don't bother with Barricade.

The transformers were a huge hit for my 9 year old son. He had no difficulty transforming Bumblebee and can usually handle the Barricade but with a little help he can handle it as well. They are a little smaller than I expected but it's a perfect size for my son.
