4.0 out of 5 stars Petty good toy
This is a pretty good toy, it is fairly poseable and made of quality plastics unlike most of the Movie Transformers toys. The transformation is fairly simple involving only about 6 steps and all parts of the toy can store on the toy, both in robot and vehicle mode.

The toy itself is incredibly durable, which is the best hing about it. I know it is durable, because as the family worked to transform it, parts were snaping off right and left...very frustrating. The durability rating comes at a 5, because these parts were designed to snap off and then snap back on so it doesn't permanently break the piece. Overall, I think that is nice (considering that the old transformers didn't have this feature and many of them broke when a child was trying to get them back into a different form).

The biggest frustration with the toy, however, comes from the instructions. They are not clearly written, and we found that most of the time we tried to do what the instructions said, found it unclear or impossible to do, and ended up fiddling around with the toy until enough shoving and twisting made a piece move into something closer to the picture (We eventually stopped trying to follow the instructions because it was easier to just fidget with the parts until they looked more like the picture on the package).

The other frustrating thing with the instructions is that it only gives you instructions for transforming the toy into robot mode. The instructions to transform back are simply to go in reverse. With other transformers, this is not as frustrating because it starts out NOT in robot mode. This toy starts in robot mode, so the instructions are even more difficult to follow because you are going in reverse.

Overall, the toy is just frustrating for many reasons. It doesn't transform easily, the instructions are not clear, and the toy makes me want for the old transformers that I could transform as a six-year old with no engineering degree.

Received this product for my son for xmas and was a little disappointed with the size of the transformer. Overall, it won't make a difference with him but in the future the overall size should be included.

I collect transformer toys and I love Optimus Prime, so this toy was a no-brainer for me to buy. Having said that, this version of Optimus Prime only appears in the movie for about 2 minutes, and during those two minutes he is very hard to see (dark, hidden behind objects) so there is no real way to tell how movie accurate this toy is.

All in all it is an interesting and well made version of Optimus Prime, but aside from the packaging it is hard to tell which character this is supposed to be.

Odd little world we live in. I held off on adding this guy to my Optimus Prime collection for a while, based on the belief that I wouldn't care much for the tyke. Based on a film I despise, using a design seen for perhaps a minute (in the dark, no less) and lacking in the classic red and blue colors we all love so very, very much, he didn't seem to have much going for him. But lo and behold...
Turns out this is one of my favorite movie related Primes! His unusual entry mode is rather fun, and has enough truckish touches to satisfy. His robot form is neat looking (His monkey toes make him look powerfull. Don't know why, they just do.) with a ton of articulation and good balance, which means he can be displayed in a number of action filled poses. The transformation from robot to entry mode and back is complex enough to be fun, yet easy enough to master after only a time or two. And he has just enough Optimus hallmarks so you know who it is. I particuarly like the window-chestplate, resembling both Cybertron Prime and, strangly since this one's more recent, the Generations Prime based on the video games.
Anyway, if you like Optimus Prime as I do, you need this figure. If you're just looking for something different for your or your loved ones Transformer collection, you may not NEED this piece, but you won't regret getting it. And if you simply love anything connected to the Transformer movie and it's sequels... may God have mercy on your poor, troubled soul.
