This review is from: Transformers RICOCHET WITH NIGHTSTICK Series IX (Toy)
A very intersting and cool addition to the Commemerative Series of the Generation 1 Transformers toy line.

On the surface, Ricochet looks like just a Jazz figure painted black, but it is so much more. Originaly it was only available in Japan during the first run of the Generation 1 back in 1987 The idea was to get some of the bigger original car molds into the new Targetmaster line of Transformers. The Jazz mold was one of them chosen for this honor and was repainted black and given golden boardered firebolt stickers to replace his racing numbers and was given the name Stepper. They added an extra hole to the back of the vehicle and he got a targetmaster partner to complete the new toy. Now for the first time ever, released in North American shores and given a new name of Ricochet. This is a great addition to any Generation 1 fan or any Transformers fan to add to their collections.

Overall the toy is the same as the Jazz figure. A mixture of die cast metal and plastic with a good color scheme and pretty complete look to it. Usualy Targetmasters came with only the Targetmaster weapon, Ricochet comes with some regular weapons as well making him a one robot army.

Its great to see that Hasbro is going in this path as it is great to get all the figures we had when they were out 20 years ago, it is also great to get things we weren't able to as they were country exclusive. I hope that Hasbro continues on this path with a mixture of both previous favorites and unknown treasures that made up the very impressive and welcomed Generation 1 toy line.

You won't be sorry making Ricochet a part of your Commemerative Series collection. It's something fresh and well colored yet at the same time very familiar. The only true drawbacks would be that we learn very little of the character from the bio card and the card doesn't even go into his Targetmaster partner Nightstick. Would have been nice if Hasbro had put some effort into giving them both a good write up so we can add them to our Transformers histories as if they always belonged. Very minor and takes nothing away at all from the figure but just little minor things that would have made it even greater.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great!.......But...., December 11, 2004

I have purchased the Lattest G1 reissue "Ricochet" and I have to say that it probably looks better than all the autobot cars that have been reissued to date.... even better than his "Jazz" counterpart. The body, metal and modes are excelent. The colors are very neat., (Black on gold is always a winner. But there is something that bothers me and im pretty sure bothers many transformers fans about HASBROS G1 reissues.:
Ricochet was not part of our original 80;s collection. Even though I love the toy and he looks great in my display case, there are so many transformers that us overgrown kids want to see and purchase. What about the Dinobots? There definetly a top seller... Merge groups??? What happened to them??? are you going to reissue them as well????? I just really hope that my new transformer collection doesnt end here and I am getting particulary worried that I havent seen Sideswipe around.... Whats going on????? are our favorite toys not giving you good sales???? I hope not..... Please try to keep us informed of what your plans for the future of Cybertron are....... Matt

Ricochet, originally released in Japan as Stepper is an absolutely AMAZING figure. Basically, Ricochet is a re-colorization of G1 Jazz, with the same amount of die cast used in this figure. Ricochet, however has so much more. This figure has a rear peghole in his vehicle mode, where he is able to attach Nightstick, his partner Targetmaster.

Ricochet is also able to attach Nightstick to his shoulder in robot mode, via an adapter piece.

Each of the parts that comes with Ricochet is interchangable with Jazz, adding more play value to the figure.

Whether you are a collector and intend to leave the figure MISP or if you enjoy playing with the G1 figures, this is the toy for you. I highly recommend this figure.

This product was purchased for my husband who is a huge fan of Transformers, and was not purchased tucked away immediately upon receipt. Based on his analysis the toy is in perfect condition.

If you think target masters are armed this one is a target master with two weapons too. Ricochet is one awsome transformer.

Personaly I enjoy G1 Transformers toys, but I don't know who Ricohet is. It looks like Jazz with a different paint scheme.that name for the Autobothas never been used in the whole history of Transformers, but I guessoverall it is a good Transformers toy,It might be something I might buy,but if Hasbro is going to continue the G1 line, then they need to get the names right with the cars,or not try to make up a new Transformer that does not exist
