Griffin Rock seems like just another chunk of land floating off the coast of Maine. But if you look a little closer, you just might find more than meets the eye! Meet the Rescue Bots: Chase, Heatwave, Blades and Boulder! Stationed undercover, they’re given the task of protecting and learning about mankind by teaming up with a family of first responders, including a police chief, firefighter, helicopter pilot and engineer. Hasbro takes a page from Marvel for their new television show "Transformers: Rescue Bots." They make the Robots in Disguise look cuter and more toddler friendly to grab that audience. It's something toy manufacturers and television producers have been doing for decades. Anybody remember "Muppet Babies," "Tiny Toons," "The Flintstone Kids," or "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo?"

"Transformers: Rescue Bots - Roll to the Rescue" brings the metallic heroes to the town of Griffin Rock, Maine. Each of the four Transformers take on the forms of a bulldozer, fire engine, helicopter, and police car. Chase, Heatwave, Blades, and Boulder are recruited by Optimus Prime to assist a police chief, firefighter, helicopter pilot, and engineer fight fires, aliens, and other dangers.

The show is perfect for younger children and geared to them. However, most Transformers fans will enjoy the show for what it is. It moves at a quick pace and is entertaining yet simple. Like most animated shows these days, there's a message of some type for kids.

The show would fit in perfectly with "The Superhero Squad" on Saturday mornings. The animation is similar but still has its own flavor mixed with it. It's colorful and fun to look at, which is perfect for its target viewers.

The disc has six episodes including the pilot, "Family of Heroes." Other episodes featured are "Under Pressure, " "Hotshots," "Flobsters on Parade," "The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock," and "Four Bots and a Baby." There are also printable coloring sheets for kids to enjoy.

"Transformers: Rescue Bots - Roll to the Rescue" will keep children and their parents enthralled with 130 minutes of quality family-friendly adventure featuring everyone's favorite robots. Thanks to Shout!

5.0 out of 5 stars Transformers for Young Kids! October 10, 2012
My boys love anything to do with Transformers and Rescue Bots is a great show for younger fans. They basically took the original Transformers but made them more colorful and bubbly - young kid friendly. It features four Rescue Bots - Chase, Heatwave, Blades and Boulder - as protectors who keep people safe while learning themselves how to be heroes. The show is wholesome and full of action that isn't all about fighting or weapons, it is more so showing heroes and working together as a team. My boys (4 and 5) love this show and this DVD features five episodes full of fun with over two hours of content. My boys love how the Rescue Bots transform and they would watch this DVD over and over if I let them. While I am sure they have probably seen some of these episodes on TV (HUB network airs Rescue Bots) they don't see to mind and love that they can watch their favorite heroes anytime!

When I first heard that Hasbro and the Hub were planning on releasing another Transformers cartoon, my first response was "Why? Transformers: Prime hasn't even gone off the air yet." And when I heard said cartoon was essentially going to be a kiddied-down, Fisher-Price-esque show aimed at the preschool crowd, I was even more skeptical. Transformers has always been geared towards young boys (the testosterone-laden Michael Bay movies notwithstanding), so why a show specifically targeted towards children was needed in the first place escaped me. But the Hub's sneak preview of the show looked interesting enough, and I decided to give it a look anyhow.

The verdict -- "Transformers: Rescue Bots" is a good show in its own right, entertaining and smoothly animated, with likable characters and a well-rounded cast of voice actors to bring them to life. It's not as epic as, say, "Transformers: Prime," but that actually works in its favor.

"Rescue Bots" follows the story of a team of Autobots who function as the titular Rescue Bots -- Heatwave, the hot-headed and somewhat grumpy team leader who turns into a fire truck; Chase, the logical by-the-book cop who turns into a police car; Blades, a shy and nervous acrophobic (afraid of heights) who turns into a helicopter (much to his chagrin); and Boulder, a sweet-tempered nature enthusiast who turns into a bulldozer. Stationed in the New England coastal town of Griffon Rock, Optimus Prime informs them that they will be working undercover in conjunction with the town's own rescue team, masquerading as human-controlled transforming robots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for more
I have two little boys (2 and 5) who love Transformers and I find the Prime show a bit to suggestive for violence for the 5yr old so this is a perfect compromise for all of us!
