4.0 out of 5 stars fun and entertaining for the young ones September 20, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not sure what it is about transformers, but I've never seen a little boy who didn't like them. I first bought them for my son, who is now in his thirties. However, some of the other versions are much more complicated than this inexpensive toy. It appears sturdy and my grandson transforms it A LOT. He just turned 4, and it is easy for him to maneuver, and his uses his imagination with it as he uses it to play with his other toys. He enjoys it mostly in its robot form and carries it around all of the time. I plan on buying more of these for my grandsons.

i gave it to my son for his 4th bday. its almost a month now and it is still in one piece. he has tossed it dragged it on the ground pulled on its parts and its still going. lasted a lot longer than i thought. he has no trouble using it either. its simple to transform which is the main reason i bought it. great quality for a good price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy enough for an almost 2 year old September 13, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I cringe anytime my wife buys our 4 year old another transformer. I am not good with these types of toys but my son loves them. When i got this one, I was happily surprised to find that it can be transformed with just a few simple twists and turns. In fact, my 4 year old quickly tossed it aside and handed it to my 1 and a half year old who easily converted it back to a truck.

The toy is very sturdy and has held up well with my little one tossing it around a bit. I think the recommended age for this transformer is more based on the type of toy that it is rather than the difficulty level. I would prefer my kids to play with more educational toys, however, I grew up with these types of toys so I find it hard to not let them play with them. So this has lived mostly in the hands of my 1 and a half year old who prefers playing with it in its truck form. My 4 year basically does not have any interest in it as he prefers the more complicated ones to transform (that I can't stand).

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading December 10, 2012

For the price paid, the item is small and worth about half of the charged price. It says 3.1 x 8 x 11 inches, that is BS, they count the packaging. The robot is far smaller. Bought 4. very disappointed, never again.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 4 year old son loves it! September 15, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I grew up watching and playing with old school die-cast metal Transformers in the 80's and think it's pretty darn cool that my 4 year old loves Transformers as much as I did. However, he's not old enough yet to "transform" anything complicated which means typical Transformer toys involve my son handing me the toy, converting it to vehicle mode only to reverse the procedure about 60 seconds later when he wants the robot back (I curse the day I got Lego Transformers for him!).

This toy got delivered while I was on a business trip and my wife sent me photos of my son transforming this guy back and forth all by himself. Meaning, we both love this toy more due to the independence it gives my son to play. Obviously, it's plastic and the days of die-cast metal Transforms passed decades ago but since this toy has relatively few moving parts it seems like it's holding up well. I think I'm going to order him another one to "fight" with, I think they are well worth the $12 entry price for the enjoyment it brings my 4 year old.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Games a Rip Off December 24, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
This company completed ripped us off -- and I'm to blame for not paying closer attention to this product. They charged us $39.89 for this 'Transformers Rescue Bot Optimus Prime' toy. The website photo and description made it appear much larger a toy than it actually is in reality. This was supposed to be my son's 'big gift' for Christmas and, if we keep it, it will now be a stocking stuffer. I looked up the same item again on Amazon and no longer saw 'Extreme Toys' listed as a vendor -- only Hasbro selling this same model for $15.95. An honest mistake or well-positioned timing scheme by this company just in time for Christmas when parents hate to ship items back to vendors. I also hate to ship it back and leave my son without a present for Christmas but I will to get my money back knowing I could have driven down the street to Toys R' Us and bought 3 of these for that price. These kinds of schemes need to stay off Amazon during the holidays.

Great toy, but I didn't expect this transformer toy to be a toddler toy (my sons are 6 1/2 & 8) O'well, lesson learned next time! Toddler boys would love this toy :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a Three Year Old September 18, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I sat down on the floor with my three year old niece to see if she found play value in the Optimus Prime Rescue Bots. Why niece and not nephew? Because when I was a child my brothers' trucks and trains were given away to cousins before I could get my mitts on them. I vowed that any female child in my life would never be deprived the joy of all toys - whether designed for boys or girls.

We were occupied for fifteen minutes twisting Optimus from robot to truck, and then she carried "him" around with her the rest of the afternoon. I think three may be the perfect age for this toy - young enough to be interested but not immediately bored once a couple simple conversions back and forth from robot to truck are accomplished. The toy is sturdy and requires no batteries.
