Product Description

Back in the distant past of CYBERTRONâ"¢, when flight was a new technology, RANSACK was first of the flying aces. He was a ruthless combatant, blasting his opponents out of the sky, and then strafing the helpless troops stuck on the ground without cover. He may be past his prime and equipped with outdated weapons now, but there was a time when RANSACK was the most feared name on CYBERTRON.

Launch a surprise attack on the good guys with this RANSACK robot-to-vehicle figure. March into battle in robot mode and then quickly convert him to biplane mode to swoop down on his enemies. Add this RANSACK figure to your collection and give the AUTOBOT forces a fight theyâ?TMll never forget!

I love. LOVE. L O V E Ransack. There is just something awesome about a Transformer that turns into a WW1 German fighter biplane (Modeled after the Albatros D.III). He has a great retro-styled paint job complete with iron cross inspired Decepticon symbols on the wings.

Ransack's transformation is little touchy and might require a bit of gentler handling than small children are ready for. His elbows are know to spontaneously explode during transformation, more to his own detriment than that of the Autobots. Luckily they pop back on. A lot of people have complained that this mold is really loose (especially the arms, wing parts and thigh plates) but my toy seems to fair pretty well, though the elbows do pop every now and again.

The bot mode is great. He's got this very stripped down, real skeletal look and even a skull-like face. I really dig the way the plane wings convert to wasp-like wings in bot mode and his engine-block hat, although his feet are kinda meh. But, I guess they didn't have much to work with there, fair enough.

Due to the finicky nature of this mold I would have to say this is not idea for younger children, but if you're buying for and older child or are an adult collector you owe it to yourself, and the future of good toy design to pick this guy up. If you seem him for around 10 grab him, if you see him for around 5 buy 2! I Loves me some Ransack!

And remember parents: If you don't like challenging your children, BUY AGE APPROPRIATE.

First, the good points: A Transformer biplane is an excellent idea. It combines several things that kids and collectors like: Transformers, airplanes, military vehicles, and a very old-school feel. It also looks impressive in vehicle mode.

Now, the bad points: It is very cheaply made. In trying to make the toy look more complicated, they have left the parts very small and fragile. Rather than just folding back, the wings separate into many pieces. The toy also has several ball-and-socket joints that fall apart easily. They snap back together, but require a very delicate touch. In my opinion, this toy would not survive five minutes in the hands of an average child.

If you are a collector, or plan to leave this toy sitting on a shelf and not transform it, then it would be a decent buy if it is cheap. If however, you want a toy you can actually play with &/or transform more than once, avoid it at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Concept, June 10, 2009

I was scouting around the stores for the ROTF toy line, and I usually don't go for the Scout class toys, but this one made me grab it right off the shelves. Although I associate the name 'Ransack' to that weasely character on the Velocitron (in the Cybertron series), I really loved the WWII plane that this one turns into.

Everything is well thought of... from the skeletal face/head, to the long skinny arms... and the overall look in vehicle mode. And the transformation is not complex. Quite simple actually, and I did it without the use of the instructions. And all the robot parts are well hidden in vehicle mode too!

And it's an awesome addition to my TF plane collection... a stunning contrast next to Starscream (F15), Jetfire (F14), Silverbolt (SR-71), WingSaber (giant A-10) and AstroTrain (Space Shuttle)!! :-D

Would have loved this to have been a Deluxe class toy.... but this is still one of my fav. ones that I've collected.
