Based on Hasbro's legendary Transformers property and one of the most anticipated films of 2009 from Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen thrusts players into a battle for supremacy across the globe as either Autobots or Decepticons to drive, fly, fight and blast their way through intense, pressure-packed levels.
Set a few years after the defeat of Megatron in the first game/movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen reveals that the threat from the Decepticons is in fact, far from ended. Since the time of the epic and apparently not so final battle between the two Transformer leaders, Decepticons have started popping up again all over Earth in alarming numbers. And now, a mysterious object from space seems destined to shift the balance of power and give the upper hand to the Decepticons. Mission-centric Gameplay Unlike Activision's Transformers: The Game, released along side the original movie back in 2007, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen relies less on open-world gameplay and more on structured, but varied mission play. The variety in these missions comes from the fact that players can align themselves with either the Autobots or Decepticons, and that the available missions both parallel the events of the movie, as well as events unique to the game. During these missions players will be able to play as a variety of different Transformers from either side of the conflict, and with success in mission play will be able to unlock additional Transformers and earn points used to upgrade your selected faction. Playable characters include on the Autobot side: Optimus Prime, Iron Hide, Breakaway, Bumblebee, and Ratchet; and from the Decepticon side: Starscream, Sideways (a new character), Grindor, Long Haul, and Megatron. Additional Transformer types will be available in multiplayer modes. The game features a simple control toggle that not only allows for quick switching between mech, vehicle and weapon forms, but also allows for a more easy learning curve of the acrobatic moves from the movie. Key Features
One of the major improvements of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen over any previous Transformers releases is its extensive multiplayer options, both locally and online, co-op and versus. These modes include standard head-to-head/team options such as Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, but also unique modes like 'One Shall Stand' where players must take out the opposing leader, 'Control Points' where teams struggle to control specific map points at specific times, and 'Battle for the Shards' which is a 'capture the flag' variant tasking teams to collect and hold all the pieces of the destroyed Allspark from the 2007 film. |

I'm really surprised by the negative reviews of this game. I recently picked it up on PC and am having loads of fun with it. The controls were a bit difficult for me to get used to at first, but once I'd played for a bit (and it helps that you can do each scenario over and over again as often as you want) they became second nature (and, of course, you can reset them as you like). I love the versatility of each character, and I enjoy replaying missions with different characters (or even the same character, utilizing different skills). The post-mission dialogue changes depending on how well (or poorly) you did in various aspects (collateral damage, amount of time spent on the mission, etc.), which makes replaying it even more fun. And I haven't even played any of the Decepticon campaigns yet!
My only complaint is that it is too short. I'd like to see more missions. I'd also like to see additional skill upgrades. Because you can replay each mission as often as you want, and earn energon each time, you can easily max out your levels long before playing the final mission. It almost makes the game too easy. All in all, I've found this game to be a lot of fun. I'm enjoying playing it over and over again. If it weren't for family and work obligations, I'd probably never get off this game!

The other person A.A. Bader does have it correct, however i would not use such "Colorful" language.
First of all, DO NOT pick the PC version but if you must, make sure you have a 360 gamepad (i dont sadly). I probably had a worse time because i was used to the 1st one's controls (which i would highly recommend over this one)but it is still horrid anyway. You have to hold the shift key to stay transformed and to fire you must click the mouse wheel. If your in robot mode you gotta hold the middle mouse button and press the left to fire. If you let go of the shift key you will return to robot mode. The missions are fairly bland with just small modifications on "Kill everything" The 1st one was just like this, except kinda more annoying cause the enemy could block. The upgrade system is just to increase performance, you wont notice any new moves or anything. The 1st one did not have this The graphics are decent but not excelling. I personally thought the 1sts was better There is a decent variety of robots, but to play as all of them in a certain area you must unlock them (not too challenging). The 1st one had a one bot only per mission. The two major things the 1st one had but this one lacks is 1, Difference between sides. In the 1st one you actually got two different experiences depending on what side you took. Some levels were only available on a certain side. With this one its the same campaign, but just do you want to play it is the good or bad guy. 2, Mess with the environment. You can destroy small things in the world in this game but that's about it. In the 1st one you could destroy buildings (not completely but their damage was noticeable) and pick up and throw just about anything. Or with trees and lamp posts, use them like a bat. The one and only thing which actually makes this game worth 1/10 of the $30 i spent is the online. The 1st one did not have this, and ill admit it putting the crappy controls aside it was pretty fun. Nice chunk of game modes and maps. Noting like Call of Duty but its the only noticeable feature. If you love slow online robot brawling and that alone i heartily recommend this. If you want a quality game, try something else.

I got this game shortly after i got my new pc becouse it looked like a fun game. I play world of warcraft, and call of duty games also. But for some reason the transformers Rotf game graphics are way messed up, so messed up i wish i didnt buy it. Dont get me wrong the game looks awesome and crisp if im in a area with lots of light, if there are dark shadows or night levels all i see is lots of blurred texture, hard to see what your shooting and where your going. The game looks and plays great in day time settings and well lighted levels. I play a ton of pc games and never had this problem it almost seems the game was never properly formatted, also you have very limited video display options, as well has key binding. There are games with bad graphics and games with messed up graphics and this game is messed up at least on my windows 7 pc, and i found a few forums of lots of other poeple with the same problem after playing the game. I never left a review for a game but this one was so crap like put togeather i made a exception.
