5.0 out of 5 stars FANTABULOUS!
I was one of those film score buffs who went berserk back in 2007 when Jablonsky's stunning score for the first Transformers was not released. Fortunately, that omission was quickly addressed and has not been repeated with the second film.

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical, and that's OK...
A lot of people decried Jablonsky's first Transformer's score as sounding just like the rest of the Hans Zimmer and Zimmer-inspired works of the last decade. It sounded redundant, repetitive, noisy, etc. etc...

This is a bad thing?

Hans Zimmer is a good composer. Zimmer's understudies are also good composers. Sure, they sound the same, and the...

I was one of those film score buffs who went berserk back in 2007 when Jablonsky's stunning score for the first Transformers was not released. Fortunately, that omission was quickly addressed and has not been repeated with the second film.

I was nervous before acquiring the score. The first one was so good -- how, I wondered, would Jablonsky pay homage to the original without copying it too closely, and without going too far away from those roots? I've been a huge fan of Hans Zimmer and his fellow posse of composers for many years, so my confidence was high -- but still, I knew it was a tall order.

I shouldn't have stressed. Jablonsky came through in spades. For this project, there was a new Linkin' Park song ("New Divide") created, and with the reported assistance of Zimmer, Jablonsky integrated the instrumental melody of "New Divide" into the score on Track 3 ("Nest"). There is the expected driving, pounding, energizing music in this score, and it works very, very well. But there is also much, much more depth and forethought.

Take Track 2, for example ("Einstein's Wrong"). It starts off with the rather comical sound from the first film that represented some of the more lighthearted moments (Sam at school, on the pink bike, arriving at the lake uninvited, etc.). But then it becomes something much deeper, with a chorus singing in the high ranges -- it's remarkable.

Another extremely pleasant surprise was the use of a talented female solo singer (Lisbeth Scott) in very much the same style that Zimmer used Lisa Gerrard for Gladiator, "Injection" from M:I-2, etc. The use of the solo singer begins in Track 6 of this disc ("Infinite White") and is used at various points from there in. I was also pleased to see that guitarist Heitor Perrera was brought back in to work on another Zimmer-team score. It's been too long since he graced such a score!

In short -- this is a fantastic, well thought out score. It is an easy favorite, and now I really can't wait to see the film. Kudos, Jablonsky and team!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great score!, June 23, 2009
First I want to say that the first score was great! Along with the movie, I was not dissapointed. The second score makes me excited to see the movie tomorrow.

I'm not sure what movie the first reviewer was watching, but clearly it must have been some other movie than transformers. The first score was also great, along with this one. I guess some people think that they need to analyze everything, and they can't just enjoy good entertainment. Who ever said that Transformers was to be suffisticated and a true work of art. It is just a fun movie with a lot of explosions, and cool transformers! Whoever wants to enjoy a fun movie see both transformers, and enjoy the scores that go along with them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, June 23, 2009
I absolutely loved the score for the first Transformers movie, and was one of the people who helped make a big enough fuss to ensure that it would be released. I was extremely skeptical that the score for TF2 could be as good as the first one.

My brother and I just finished listening to the CD, and all I can say is WOW! It was really amazing. If anything, the score for the second one is even better than the first. It's astoundingly good. It does NOT sound exactly the same as the first one, it's very different. Yes, the Transformers theme is carried over. That doesn't mean the whole score sounds exactly the same as the first one. It's also natural that the overall style that Steve Jablonsky has would be similar to Hans Zimmer's, since he is part of the Zimmer Posse. And Zimmer was actually called in on this CD too, and did a little work with Steve Jablonsky and Linkin Park.

The music on this CD is really, really fantastic. It's just incredible. There's nothing superficial or "dumb" about it. It's powerful, emotional, riveting, moving and exciting. I was just in awe. Hans Zimmer has been my favorite composer for a long time now, and this was as good as many of the scores that Hans Zimmer has come out with. I was thoroughly impressed with it. And SO glad that they decided to release the score this time, even BEFORE the movie came out! THANK YOU!!!

So yeah, the score can be summed up in one word, as far as I'm concerned, and it's the word in my subject line: BRILLIANT! Just brilliant music. I actually felt smarter after listening to it. Hahaha.

P.S., I LOVE what Brian Bubnich had to say, and I completely agree.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good music!, October 27, 2009

No over critical, super analyzed review of this soundtrack here. With me, if I go to a movie and like the music, I buy the soundtrack. And that's what I did with the score to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. With scores like 'Forest Battle' 'I Rise, You Fall' and 'Prime', it's worth it. Just like the first Transformers film score, Revenge of the Fallen is worth having in music collection. The Transformer theme is now down in my most favorite themes of all time, as it should be. It's great music from awesome films!

5.0 out of 5 stars Noteworthy!, September 15, 2009

I am a long time soundtrack addict. I've got more soundtrack CDS in my home then I do any other genre of music. The Transformer's soundtrack surpased my expectations. The movie was fantastic in an of itself, but the music truely brings it to life.

Although Jablonsky created nothing extremely memorable on this particular score, he is a master of the beats that make up the heart. Listening to this has provided me great daydreams and a fantastic musical experience! I simply love it! Everytime I want to listen to a score, my mind has subconsiously guided me toward this one--and I can't say I blame it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another original score for a Blockbuster Sequel, September 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I saw Transformers Revenge of the Fallen the sequel was definitely worth every penny, especially at the IMAX. Now, two years after the epic blockbuster film, Composer Steve Jablonsky delivers yet another inspiring score that flows nicely with the action packed drama of Transformers. As the title suggests the film's villians are back with a vengence to wreak havoc on major cities in their plot to take over the world. The score lives up to its name with a mixture of intrigue, humor, eerily haunting melodies in tracks such as, "The Fallen" and "The Fallen's Arrival" as well as, fast paced high Octane excitement for themes as "Nest" which was co-performed by the rock group Linkin Park. Although not as musically engaging as the original score, this one still is worth checking out if you're a fan of suspense themes and menacing symphonies that serve as a prelude of danger and heart stopping peril this soundtrack is for you. I was hoping that there would be more of the action themes in this score but giving the bad guys more room to explore orcestra wise seems to work out well with this SCI-FI genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Revenge of the Fallen Score, June 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen - The Score (MP3 Download)
I would like to begin by saying that I am a huge fan of film scores in general. I thought the score for the first film was excellent and really added to the "soul" of the Transformers. There was the required generic action queues but there were also some genuinely heart felt heroic moments as well. In particular, tracks such as Autobots, Arrival to Earth, You're a Soldier Now and No Sacrifice, No Victory really stood out. I have listened to this album a few times now. I have to say that although it is good, it is not quite up to the level of the first score in the sense that there are not those same soaring heroic moments. There are a few such as the ending of the Forest Battle track that show glimpses of this heroism. The sad thing is that the score as heard in the film is far superior to the album version in terms of the material that is offered. There are a number of queues that are fantastic but apparently didn't make the final cut. Perhaps this is symptomatic of the movie itself. I liked it but it was overly long and generic in some parts and the score, in some ways, reflects that. I rated it 4 stars because it is a great effort it just doesn't quite match the highest highs of its predecessor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Transformers Soundtrack, August 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an excellent soundtrack. I am an avid fan of many types of music and am very satisfied with the quality of the disc. It was a father's day gift for my husband and he loves it. He has even taken it out in the tractor with him to listen to while he does his field work! I would use the vendor again as the disc arrived right on time and in excellent condition.

I enjoy listening to scores, especially heroic movie scores, and I believe that this sound track does not disappoint. If you like music that makes you feel like you can leap buildings in a single bound, then you should like this.
