Product Description

Starscream is a logical choice for modernization. We got our first taste with Robot Masters, and now, Starscream gets the star treatment, as part of the invedible Masterpiece line! Finally, Starscream will get the toy he deserves! The Masterpiece line promises us a cartoon inspired, uber-realisitc Starscream, with the basic classic transformation enhanced by new twists! In addition, it appears that we can expect at least his Imperial crown.

This is not a kids toy, as the hefty price should indicate. The transformation is tricky, involving careful thought and understanding of where parts are going to end up and how they need to get there. Although, I found the construction to be sturdy, it has plenty of points where excess force will cause it to break, if mishandled. I had the head and one of the flaps on the side of the air-intakes pop off the first time. Fortunately, they are made to be easily popped back on. The left arm is a little loose in comparison to the right. There's not much metal to this, unlike the Optimus Prime model. There's a metal internal frame and the hinge pins.

It's a good thing they include a display stand, because I couldn't get him to stand in a position that looked good. The tail-piece of the plane is left hanging from either side of his legs or riding up behind him, which makes him top-heavy and back heavy. His feet do not support him well, since the jet nozzles do not make for good heels. When I did manage to balance him, he looked like he was bent over, ready to take off which is a cool looking stance, but limited. It all depends on how you shift his center of gravity. With the display stand, it's much more versatile.

Accessories include, a Dr. Archevil "pilot", "sidewinder" missiles to replace his null-ray cannons in jet-mode, and a small clamp which appears to be useful only for securing MP-OP's gun-mode Megatron to the base of the nose, in a fashion similar to what happens once in the cartoon. So, if you have MP-OP, you're in luck. No crown, though. There are also a bunch of stickers just like in the old days! Looks like you can even do your own custom lettering, to a certain extent. I haven't applied mine, yet. He looks awesome even without them, though a couple of Decepticon symbols would make him more complete. There is also a collectible card included.

The design of Starscream is wonderful and very impressive both in robot mode and in airplane, you can see that allot of thought was put into it. the design part easily gets 5 stars.

The materials they used are cheap and easily breakable and the color is not too impressive (nothing like the optimus prime masterpiece which is a very sturdy heavy piece with beautiful rich colors) this portion gets only 2 stars.

It is also overpriced and with the money they saved using the cheapest of materials i would think it should retail at $80-$100 max. Value gets only 3 stars.

In general if you are planning to place this piece on display and not play with it i would highly recommend it. kids under 13 should not touch this as they would break it immediately.

If only they used heavier stronger materials i would defiantly give it 5 stars and would also think it was worth the price - but since they used light plastic and charge too much for it, I give it a 4. (if i was not huge transformers fan I would probably give it a 3)

This is just shy of getting 5 stars, but only because of the price I paid. Below $70 and this would be 5 stars. The attention to details is amazing. Just don't expect anyone under the age of 20 to transform it. The instructions are much more complicated than the previous Optimus Prime master piece product.

At first I wasn't happy with the change to Starscreams color scheme, but now I'm totally onboard. He looks awesome in both modes.

Though a bit expensive, I'd say its quite worth it. Very realistic craftsmanship and elaborate transformation process. Comes with a base, a miniature pilot and stickers to decorate the hull.
