SKYWARP IS AWSOME,
A Kid's Review
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Transformers Universe: Skywarp (Toy)
Skywarp has three modes, Hover, Jet, and Robot. Hover mode is funky, it's Skywarp in robot mode except you do some funky stuff with his legs so he looks like a hovering robot. Jet mode is my favorite. His front peice folds out but I prefer it in and he has two missles on his wings. And last but not least, Robot mode. His missles are on his arms and he has awsome posibility. Skywarp is hard to transform which make hime cool. He's also smaller than a normal 10 doller sive guy but rocks. Skywarp is unique and has an awsome looking face. So I geuss what I'm trying to say is, BUY HIM!

Transforming This = Spare Parts,

This review is from: Transformers Universe: Skywarp (Toy)
This is a REVAMP of a Gen 1 Transformer (not to be confused with it's current reissue). I owned Transformers and Go-Bots when they first hit the store shelves in the 80's. I was one of those kids who just opened the plastic and transformed it to all modes sans need for directions. Albeit many years later, for this, I required directions...which are much too oblique (I can follow them fluently in both English and French, and the French directions are much better, IMHO.)
The explanation of the length of the transformation required for the legs, as along with the alignment necessary to affix the chest panels was not explained (in either language) sufficiently. The legs are very loosely jointed and fell off a few times during the initial transformation - a first for me! I have *never* had a transformer disjoint on me, though this one is constructed whereas disjointing is much too easy. The note in the instructions that "some parts are made to detach if excessive force is applied and designed to be re-attached if seperation occurs" is true to the extent whereas one could remove the "if excessive force is applied" and it would be more appropriate. My friend who is also rediscovering Transformers told me he had similar problems with his Universe StarScream, and after the initial transformation in to robot mode, just left it there, not wanting any more hassle with it. Although SkyWarp doesn't come with the extra weapons as StarScream does, I prefer SkyWarp's color scheme. The transformation from robot to "hover" mode is kind of intriguing, though it is not able to support itself upright and meant more to be played with in that mode. Transformation back into jet mode from robot mode was relatively easy. The age categorization of 5+ in my opinion should be doubled to 10+; only due to the complexity of the transformation aggrevated by the poor instructions.

Just like Beast Machines!,

This review is from: Transformers Universe: Skywarp (Toy)
If you liked Jetstorm from Beast Machines, you'll love Skywarp. This is the same as the Jetstorm toy released during the Beast Machines days (except with different colors). Jetstorm is one of the best Transformers I've ever owned, so Skywarp should be just as cool.
