Book Description

Transformers (Titan Books Paperback) June 1, 2003
This is where it all begins...the very first shots fired in the civil war between the heroic Autobots, led by the noble Optimus Prime, and the evil Decepticons, ruled by the crazed Megatron! A spaceship launched from the planet Cybertron crashlands on Earth, four million years in the past. In 1984, its inhabitants are awakened - and Earth is plunged into the middle of the greatest conflict it has ever known, with teenager Buster Witwicky and his mechanic father caught in the middle, as Autobots and Deceptions alike battle for fuel and technology! Now it is up to Optimus Prime and his few remaining allies to protect both themselves and their human friends from the threat of Megatron...but surprises galore lie in store for both robotic leaders!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, for new and old fans alike, July 21, 2005
This review is from: Transformers, Vol. 1: Beginnings (Paperback)
Reprints issues 1-6 of the original Marvel comics Transformers comics, Maybe you like me didn't get to try many if any issues as a kid, comics being hard to find, but you grew up loving the transformers thanks to the amazing toys and TV show, i know i was parked in front of the TV every time it was on and had my toys ready to play along.

Well i know they have some new stuff out there but the original was golden age of transformers, the stories were amazing, characters so good i still remember them till this very day, starscream, Optimus, hot rod and the rest.

wellI went out looking for transformer issues, i had issue #50, out of the 80 they made i had one single issue and i wanted more, turns out there are so many transformer fans the single issues can be $10 or more for a single issue, but thanks to titan books that will get you a trade here with 6 issues.

this is the first volume of 14, it's great and i must say just as good as you remember, the transformers find their way to earth, and the story really begins, the art is stunning, and when you think it's almost 20 years old you have to marvel at it.

any fan will want a copy of this, but non fans who have been thinking about it will want to try it, the action is great, stories are fun and epic, characters you will fall in love with.

maybe some day they will publish all the G.I Joe issues as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good, September 8, 2005
This review is from: Transformers, Vol. 1: Beginnings (Paperback)
I am pleased to see that so much Gen1 stuff is being re-issued from the series to the comic books. I didn't get to read these as a kid due to living in Europe at the time, so these collections are great. If you're not a fan of the Transformers though the stories can seem a little hokey (like Spiderman's cameo). I like that the plot is a little more developed that the show's, and the fact that not all of the humans are thrilled with the Autobots appearance. If you like consistency there are some variations from the cartoon so be prepared. Also the end of "Beginnings" is a cliffhanger, so you may want to get vol 2 "New Order" as well. All in all it a fun ride for fans.

My stepson loves transformers and hates to read, so this comic series was a wonderful way to help get him interested in reading.
