Great fun, for new and old fans alike,
By Vernon Clark Mayo "Fastest gun, comic god" (Allen Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transformers, Vol. 1: Beginnings (Paperback)
Reprints issues 1-6 of the original Marvel comics Transformers comics, Maybe you like me didn't get to try many if any issues as a kid, comics being hard to find, but you grew up loving the transformers thanks to the amazing toys and TV show, i know i was parked in front of the TV every time it was on and had my toys ready to play along.Well i know they have some new stuff out there but the original was golden age of transformers, the stories were amazing, characters so good i still remember them till this very day, starscream, Optimus, hot rod and the rest. wellI went out looking for transformer issues, i had issue #50, out of the 80 they made i had one single issue and i wanted more, turns out there are so many transformer fans the single issues can be $10 or more for a single issue, but thanks to titan books that will get you a trade here with 6 issues. this is the first volume of 14, it's great and i must say just as good as you remember, the transformers find their way to earth, and the story really begins, the art is stunning, and when you think it's almost 20 years old you have to marvel at it. any fan will want a copy of this, but non fans who have been thinking about it will want to try it, the action is great, stories are fun and epic, characters you will fall in love with. maybe some day they will publish all the G.I Joe issues as well.

Pretty darn good,
By Jen "Autobot Gal" (Wyoming) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transformers, Vol. 1: Beginnings (Paperback)
I am pleased to see that so much Gen1 stuff is being re-issued from the series to the comic books. I didn't get to read these as a kid due to living in Europe at the time, so these collections are great. If you're not a fan of the Transformers though the stories can seem a little hokey (like Spiderman's cameo). I like that the plot is a little more developed that the show's, and the fact that not all of the humans are thrilled with the Autobots appearance. If you like consistency there are some variations from the cartoon so be prepared. Also the end of "Beginnings" is a cliffhanger, so you may want to get vol 2 "New Order" as well. All in all it a fun ride for fans.

My stepson loves transformers and hates to read, so this comic series was a wonderful way to help get him interested in reading.

Here is where it all began. The original four issue limited series that kept going because of its runaway success. This volume includes issues 5 and 6 as well, a great beginning to an astounding 80 issue comic book series. Great story, and highly recommended. As a bonus, the black costumed spiderman from Secret Wars appears in issue #3. This is my favorite version of spiderman, and a great added element to an already entertaining story.

too old,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Transformers, Vol. 1: Beginnings (Paperback)
Okay let me just tell you one thing this book has only the oldest transformers comics in it. It barely has any action at all in it. It has the original 1-6 transformers comics. It doesn`t have better artwork or a better story line. But if you want some old transformers comics I say go for these.
