5.0 out of 5 stars It's all about the votes!
Mark Krikorian is well aware that Barack Obama wishes to transform America by turning illegal immigrants into staunch Democratic Party voters. 1.0 out of 5 stars Pure fantasy and blatant propaganda
It is an insult to our collective intelligence to claim, as this book does on its inside cover, to be comparable to previous historical pamphlets like "The Federalist Papers" and "Common Sense." This is a book of distortions and unsubstantiated claims that can have no other purpose than to wind up emotions of like-thinking readers and the gullible. After fact-checking...

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all about the votes!, July 11, 2010
This review is from: How Obama is Transforming America Through Immigration (Encounter Broadsides) (Paperback)
Mark Krikorian is well aware that Barack Obama wishes to transform America by turning illegal immigrants into staunch Democratic Party voters. It could be next to impossible to stop the relentless campaign to destroy our constitutional government. This Encounter Broadside pamphlet will help you better understand the issues---and how best respond to this leftist attack. Our very freedoms and the identity of America hang in the balance. Krikorian's earlier book The New Case Against Immigration: Both Legal and Illegal will be of great value if you desire to acquire a fuller understanding. Nevertheless, this particular work is more than sufficient in getting your feet wet. Please also considering ordering extra copies for those relatives and friends who have limited time, but still wish to acquire a basic understanding of the threat.

I'm a big fan of the Encounter Broadsides series and agreed with Mr. Krikorian's excellent analysis. More of us need to speak out about this injustice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Krikorian for BICE Chairman!, June 6, 2010

This review is from: How Obama is Transforming America Through Immigration (Encounter Broadsides) (Paperback)
This monograph is concise, by necessity, but very edifying. Most people don't realize the policy of benign neglect that President Obama has pursued with respect to the twin issues of mass immigration and the continued inflow of illegal aliens into this country-either through overstaying their visas, or by entering this country illegally through the Southern border, Krikorian exposes the subtle, yet potentially devastating consequences Obama's policy of stealth amnesty is having during the first year of his administration. A must-read for anyone interested in this vital issue!

After fact-checking several of the claims in this book, I can not substantiate any of them.

For example, Krirkorian attempts to claim a reduction in workforce enforcement by the Obama administration by stating: "In fiscal year 2009, compared with 2008, administrative arrests of illegal workers fell 68 percent, criminal arrests fell 60 percent, criminal arrests fell 60 percent, criminal indictments fell 58 percent, and criminal convictions fell 63 percent."

That sounds awful, but it isn't true. He cites no source for these numbers, in fact, he doesn't cite a source anywhere in the "pamphlet" leading the cautious reader to conclude he's making it all up. Worse of all, the statistics he cites are NOT reported in fiscal year timelines and many are simply not reported at all. For example, according to federal immigration statistics, criminal removals increased between 2008 and 2009 by 24% to the highest levels ever. Total alien removals increased by 9% between 2008 and 2009, also the highest levels ever. Up doesn't sound like down to me.

Krikorian continues the distortions by conveniently failing to point out that the Border Patrol is succeeding in stopping more illegal crossings, which helps explains why border arrests are down--as they have been since 2006. He makes the nonsensical and unsupportable claim the Obama administration wants to grant "amnesty" because he needs more Democratic-registered voters, completly ignoring the reality that Hispanics tend to register as Republicans and the fact that (using the Reagan-sponsored 1986 immigration bill as a model) it takes about seven years for anyone who --may-- be granted "amnesty" to get the right to vote; meaning Obama would be out of office 3-4 years before these people could cast their first ballot.

But this is the purpose of the Krikorian argument: play fast and lose with the facts and instill doubt and fear.

If you want a book that bashes those brave men and women who are trying to deal with the immigration problem or a book to distort federal immigration policy, this is your book. If you want a book where you can actually learn something about immigration statistics and policy, download the free Immigration Statistics 2010 book from the DHS Office of Immigration Statistics, or read the book "Beyond Smoke & Mirrors" by Dr. Douglas Massey from Princeton.

Save your $6, because there's nothing to learn here.

This excellent book is short, concise and timely. I thought so highly of this booklet that our organization gifted it to many TX representatives during this legislative session. This quick read is better than taking up their valuable time talking in order to relay such vital information. The material is then available for their easy reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Immigrants = More Government/Statism, June 6, 2010
This review is from: How Obama is Transforming America Through Immigration (Encounter Broadsides) (Paperback)
Mark Krikorian, a fellow with spot-on views and analysis about the topic of immigration (it's past, present and future) cranks out here a laser-like focus on The Dear Leader, aka, The "Messiah", aka, The Genius in Chief, aka, The One(termer) - Barry Dunham, Barry Soetoro, Barry Hussein Obama.

Barry's M.O. is simple: flood the USA with poor, 3rd world so called "immigrants" and reap the political (voting) benefit since most poor, lowly-educated immigrants will be more dependent on Big Daddy Goverment.

Plus, liberalism does not allow for the United States to remain a majority Caucasian, English speaking country. Liberal doctrine is to weaken the USA and mass immigration is one tool in the leftists/statists/socialists toolbox.

The problem of mass immigration is a real problem for the USA and many nations around the world. Why can't the academic/poltical/media elite understand that many, many people do not want to live in a hyper-diverse country/state/town.

Liberalism is a mental disorder. How true.
