This workbook presents nurtured heart philosophy and techniques in an easy to read format. The exercises are great, and I love how celebrated parents and caregivers are. Nurtured Heart gives us a way to exercise our greatness as parents and teachers. We have techniques to rest upon whether the going is easy or tough, and a clear idea of our goals in building up our children. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Thank you to these authors for helping me see my contribution to my son's difficult patterns of negativity. He responded almost immediately to his "successes", and we're working towards building consistency in our home, with consequences. My son is very sensitive, but prone to angry outbursts and meltdowns when stressed. This workbook is helping both of us to bring some peace back to our relationship.

A no-nonsense approach that is all about positive parenting. Who wouldn't rather use a "carrot" than a "stick"? Gave me lots to think about. Will be especially helpful with my one daughter who is difficult and feels every criticism go right to her heart.

As a school social worker, therapist and mother I would recommend this book to anyone who works with children/adolescents of all levels of intensity!! The book describes the Nurtured Heart Approach concisely and colorfully. Anyone can pick this book up, begin using the approach and have immediate success.

I was told that this book is the best about how to apply the Nurtured Heart approach. Nurtured Heart is a very simple -- not necessarily easy, but simple -- approach to child rearing. It has an impressive, though limited, history in schools. My behavioral health agency uses it with difficult children, and teaches it to parents who've had their children removed as well as to treatment foster care parents. The reports are very good. My early results are very good. I recommend the book and the approach.

I have never written a book review in my life but I am so excited about the techniques in The Nurtured Heart that I want to tell everyone who will listen.
My 4 year old son truly has been transformed and our home life is now peaceful because of this approach and we have only been using it for four weeks. I am now having people such as librarians tell me my child is delightful where as in the past I often carried him out of the library kicking and screaming. The techniques are so easy to use and understand and implement. If any one tells you your child is a behavior problem or has ADHD try these techniques first because they work.

I am a licensed psychotherapist who has tried various parenting approaches for the past 30 years but the Nurtured Heart Approach is by far and away the the most effective! It truly honors the greatness in children and helps them flourish beyond your wildest imagaination. This book is very easy to read and implementation of the techniques are clear and simple. It is effective with even the most difficult children and teens. I highly recommend it to parents; teachers and any caregivers who are with children.

Any parent who feels overwhelmed by a difficult child should get this workbook and the book and use it. It works and it proves that being positive with our children does help in more ways than one.

I'm a psychologist who went to one of Howard Glasser's workshops and turned on to the book. I deal with many difficult (high energy) children. The book could be titled "Transforming the desperate parent who really wants to transform their child but doesn't know how." I regularly buy quantities to sell to parents at cost. It'll work if you work it.

Our daughter was having anxiety and getting to those tween years. A counselor friend suggested this book. Its geared towards negative attention/rebellious children, but the same tools and wisdom are perfect for any child or relationship. The main principle is putting your energy towards positive reinforcement instead of negative, yet establishing very clear boundaries. Very simple yet profound wisdom. A must for ANY parent with ANY type of child.
