An excellent book on developing a Christian worldview,
By Jon Andreas (001@earthlink.net) (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Transforming Vision: Shaping a Christian World View (Paperback)
This book is a penetrating critique of modernism, the prevailing ethos in which we live. It calls Christians to be aware of the presuppositions of the world around us and to renew our minds by seeking after Christlikeness.

This book was used as a textbook in one of my college classes through Regent University. The class, "Contemporary Problems for Christian Leaders," was very enlightening. The book covers world views in general and Christian world views specifically. As a Christian, my world view was transformed by this book, not in an earth-shaking way, but in a subtle way. Instead of Christianity being separate from "the world," I now see Christianity as redeeming the world. I would highly recommend this book.

Simply an outstanding and essential read for a well rounded study of a Reformed Christian Worldview. I am developing a curriculum in Christian Worldview studies at my church. A member, who is also a Teaching Pastor at our church AND a Professor who teaches Worldview studies at a local Christian college turned me on to this resource along with Creation Regained by Wolters. For me, Transforming Vision filled in a few gaps that Wolters left open in his theology and explanation. We are also using How Should We Then Live by Francis Schaeffer and Total Truth by Nancy Pearcey as part of the curriculum.

Transforming Vision - necessary to understand Christian Worldview,
By Polly X Pepper (Midwest, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Transforming Vision: Shaping a Christian World View (Paperback)
Transforming Vision: Shaping a Christian World ViewThis book describes in detail what shapes a Christian World View. The two authors, Brian J Walsh and J Richard Middleton say they taught around twenty different courses on this subject, in several universitites. This book is a result of their desire to "help students develop an integrated Christian world view..faithful to the Scriptures and motivating for Christian obedience in a secular age." (p11) The book is written in an interesting and lively style, is both thought-provoking and easy to understand. If you are a Christian, you should know the information in The Transforming Vision and check yourself to see how much you have compromised what the Scriptures say on this subject. If you are not a Christian and want to understand the Christian World View, this book is also for you.

Renewing your mind!,

This book shaped my young mind as college student some years ago. I am purchasing another copy to read it again. This book gives a clear explanation of what it means to live out a christian life in a culture that is counter to christ's ideals. The book certainly doesn't advocate isolationism but rather active involvment in transforming the world around us. It is an eye opening and well thought out book for christians in the 20th century and beyond.

I am reading this book with one more chapter to go and have to say that it has been an "eye-opening" and insightful read as to what a REAL Christian/Biblical world view is...and what it isn't. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to others.
