This book is the clearest statement of the core elements of both analog and digital signal processing that I've seen anywhere.

My copy is showing wear. I purchased it before Amazon.com was a gleam in Anyone's eye, and am disappointed to see that it is out of print.

If you're looking for an understandable statement of what your professor's been talking about, then GetThisBook, if you can.

Does it have any weaknesses? A few small ones, I suppose, but - compared to the competition - they're not worth mentioning.

The best treatment of Transform analysis anywhere!

This is an underknown/underrated book, but it destroys other texts. Peter has done an incredible job with a fully conceptual presentation, and amazing 3D graphics that really explain the material for the first time clearly. You won't find all these 3D graphics in other books!

Peter really presents the material visually, orgazing it with useful charts (not just a bunch of meaningless tables with formulas, like other books). His entire approach to organization is unmatched. You won't learn the material as well from other books, so even if you are required to use another book as a textbook, get this book as well, and make it your primary source for studying.

I had the pleasure of a 2 day course given by the author back in 2000. The 3D graphical representations of the various functions are very clear. (Peter wrote his own software to generate display and produce suitable output for book printing.)
