5.0 out of 5 stars Transitions:Soothing Music for Crying Infants
I am a Labor and Delivery nurse who used this tape until it wore out. My patients loved the music and the calming effect it had on them. 1.0 out of 5 stars Know what you are buying!!!
If you are looking for a CD that basically incorporates sounds of a person's heartbeat with a lot of shushing sounds, and very faint female light vocals in the background (not actual words - just sounds) - then this is the CD for you. I did not expect this when I bought it. In my opinion, it was not very relaxing, my baby still screamed his head off and it really didn't...

I am a Labor and Delivery nurse who used this tape until it wore out. My patients loved the music and the calming effect it had on them. When the doctors would enter my patient's rooms and they heard the music they knew that the patients would be relaxed, in contol and calmed by the Transitions tape. I also used the music for my sons when they were young. They would beg not to have the "baby music" played as they knew that they could not stay awake while it played. Happily this single mom enjoyed some quiet time while the boys napped. I would highly rate this tape/cd as it is so very peaceful. Every childbirth instructor should use this music to teach relaxation. I am buying it again for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most relaxing cd in the world!, April 19, 2004

I bought this cd to play in the background while practicing my hypnobirthing techniques for my upcoming birth, and to play for the baby during bedtime. I read the diclaimer about not playing while in a vehicle and scoffed. The first time I played it I was waiting in the car for my husband and fell asleep in 2 minutes flat! I played it at my birth and stayed remarkably calm and relaxed. I've played it for the baby every single time she's fallen asleep for her entire 8 months and it works wonders. I LOVE this cd and highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible, April 17, 1999

This review is from: Transitions: Soothing Music for Crying Infants(Transitions Music) (Audio CD)
This and the companion CD will convince even die-hard skeptics that peaceful music combined with the maternal heartbeat as heard in utero create a relaxing environment that will soothe babies and help them sleep longer. We used it with our firstborn for at least a year, and are welcoming our second child with it as well. This is a wonderful gift for new parents. There are many wonderful CD's to help infants sleep. Some contain words, which babies like, such as "Daddies Sing Good Bedtime". Carol Rosenberger is a pianist who has released several CDs of relaxing clasical pieces, such as "Reverie". Of course, depending on your tastes you could use Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue", Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians", or almost any piece that is hypnotic, rhythmic and soothing. But far and away, the Transitions CD are perfect for lulling babies to sleep. You cannot go wrong with this one. Truly indispensible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for soothing baby through pre-schooler, April 20, 1999

We have used this for both our children, now aged 5 and 3 1/2, and it has worked extremely well in getting them to sleep, keeping them sleeping and comforting them when they're upset. (It has even helped once in a great while when a parent needs soothing!) Now we give the CD as gifts to parents who have no idea how much this can help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for before and after pregnancy!, August 8, 2004
This review is from: Transitions: Soothing Music for Crying Infants(Transitions Music) (Audio CD)
I love these 2 cds. I originally bought them for myself early in my first pregnancy. I ended up listening to them to relax when I went into preterm labor and ended up on bedrest. I found myself falling asleep and relaxing within minutes of turning it on.

My husband and I use the cd every night while putting my older and younger son to bed. I am sure they are both used to it from listening to it in utero and at the hospital during labor!

The music is very soothing and when we travel, we take the cds to wind down in the evening. I definitely wouldn't recommend these for driving!

I did not expect this when I bought it. In my opinion, it was not very relaxing, my baby still screamed his head off and it really didn't help much. I had serious issues with colic and honestly the only things that helped were the books, "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" and "The Happiest Baby on the Block". If you are looking for a good bedtime CD - I would go with First Whispers Sleeptime Edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby, Husband, Even the Cats Soon Got to Nodding Off, October 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Transitions: Soothing Music for Crying Infants(Transitions Music) (Audio CD)
I was sceptical when I received this as a gift when I had my first baby. We noticed a stern warning on the label, that this music "ought not to be listened to while driving a car". We soon learned why. "Transitions" is so soothing, so hypnotic for babies and adults alike! My husband would wander in and lie down while I was in the rocking chair nursing the baby at bedtime, soon the cats, one by one, would wander in, too. One by one, husband, cats, and baby would all drift off to the lulling sound of "Transitions". It goes beyond "peaceful". My sons have listened to it since birth and still enjoy it at bedtime, at ages 5 and 8! Even Mom indulges to it while taking a hot bath. My casette finally disintegrated after thousands of plays... time for the CD!

We have been having problems with our 16 month old continuing to sleep all night long. The first night I played this CD my daughter slept the best that she has in weeks. The CD incorporates the noise from the womb and adds music. I will definitely buy it for friends that are having babies

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend!, August 21, 2003

My 10 month old had been sleeping with my husband and I since he was born. I decided it was too dangerous to keep him in there now that he is so mobil, so he had to move into his crib for good. This CD was just what he needed. The sound of a heartbeat interlaced with soft music was the perfect combination to help him feel secure and relaxed.

I received a copy of Transitions when my 14-year-old daughter was just a few years old. It not only soothed her before nap and bedtime, it soothed her through many migraines and tummy aches as she grew older. She is now asking for her own personal copy to add to her babysitting bag, knowing it will work it's magic on the little ones she now watches over.
