5.0 out of 5 stars STRAIGHT FORWARD ROCK MUSIC!!, July 29, 2002
By
dan the man (San Antonio, Tx. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Transmatic (Audio CD)
Transmatic is a great straight forward rock band! They sound like a mix of Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, and Aerosmith. If you like non-stop rock, not too hard, but straight ahead, with a couple ballads, and enjoy the bands mentioned earlier, you will like Transmatic. The stand out tracks are their first single "Blindspot", a great modern rock song, with a twist of alternative sound to it. "Come", which will definitly be the next single, because it has all the right ingredients of a hit-song, and sounds alot like Aerosmith, and I'm sure if they came out with this exact song, it would be a smash-hit single for them. My personal favorite is track-9, "Welcome to the life", also sounds like it could hit, but the radio stations will have to bleep the F-word in the chorus. Track-5, "face to face"& 8-"the problem" also sound like hit songs! Then you have two very nice rock ballads with tracks 6 & 7 "impossible", and "need to know". This record rocks, and reminds me of Matchbox 20's debut record. It has that rock all-the-way-through theme to it. I would highly recomend this record to anyone who likes rock music! Not metal, alternative, or anything else except good straight forward, timeless rock music. If this description fits your genre of music, you should buy this record for sure!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unoriginal?, May 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Transmatic (Audio CD)
It's odd that the person who complains that this is "bland" and "unoriginal" saw them at a Michelle Branch concert!?!? Talk about bland .... Anyway, the music isn't anything earthshaking or innovative - as if anything on the radio these days is - but, it's 11 well written catchy songs. I can't tell some bands apart anymore - it all sounds the same! (Bizkit, Korn.... Nickelback/Disturbed/etc) It would be a nice change to hear this on the radio. And if it helps to kill the boy bands as well, it can't be bad!

Favorites: "come", "Blind Spot", "Impossible", "Face to face"...

FYI- they say "[the f word" a few times, that's why it has an advisory. Hardly Marilyn Manson....

5.0 out of 5 stars Mellow Rock A Disaster??, September 9, 2005
This review is from: Transmatic (Audio CD)
I notice a couple of bad reviews on this album, and one review condemning it because it is mellow rock...First of all, when I heard the song "Blind Spot" while watching the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, I thought it would be worth a try to see if this band had put anything else out worth listening to. After buying this album on Amazon.com and listening to it on a trip that I took it really shocked me that this band hasnt made it big. The music itself is rather mellow but I dont think the band was pitching to the majority of the punk/ heavy alternative crowd to begin with. Transmatic seems to fall more along the lines of post-grunge which could be categorized with a band like Eve 6 who has been known to put out some rather passive tunes like "Here's To the Night" for example, but still a great band.. Anyhow, the lyrics tell a story that most of us can relate to and the lead singer's distinctive voice is what makes this band a little more unique to the rock crowd..They definately dont sound like your everyday, played out on the radio rock band...This album is definately worth checking out if you appreciate mild rock in which the words can be understood and are not thrown slurridly at a thousand decibels...
