Transmission: A Meditation for The New Age, by Benjamin Creme: A book review by Betsy Whitfill What activity could be more suitable for the Aquarian Age principles of synthesis and group work than a group meditation, open to all, that facilitates sending transforming spiritual energies to the entire world for the good of all? The primer of this Aquarian work is Benjamin Creme's book Transmission: A Meditation for The New Age. It is a handbook for those ready to integrate meditation and service into their lives. Many Transmission Meditation groups have already formed around Creme's historic announcement that the World Teacher, awaited under different names by all traditions, religious and non-religious, and His Group, the Masters of Wisdom, have returned to the modern world to teach us. In these groups, people from all backgrounds have found a door through which they can step on to a path, the life of service to the world, that at the same time transforms their personal lives. For those approaching this information for the first time, Creme discusses concepts such as the fact of the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters; that all is energy vibrating at one level or another; that there is immense power in thought; that there is value in living in rhythm and with discipline; and that there is a self-created path that can open before the student. Thus the reader can find new emphasis on the inner life just being discovered. Through Transmission Meditation one aligns with one's soul, the Master within. The urge to meditate, however tenuous, Creme says, is really the soul's call for contact with the man or woman in incarnation, and meditation is the "royal road" to developing that contact. More than one person has wept openly with joy having discovered and experienced this unique meditation. To those familiar and practiced in various forms of self-improvement through meditation and yoga, Creme presents a unique enrichment: meditation as service to the world. That one can meditate and at the same time potently and positively affect the world seems unbelievable, considering that many feel quite helpless in the face of the events and trends that have led our world into the apparent chaos of life today. But, Creme writes, there is a Plan, and we all can help. In Chapter 1, 'Introduction: What is Transmission Meditation', Creme discusses man's place and role in the energetically dynamic scheme of the Kingdoms. From the lowest mineral to the higher vegetable, then up the scale to the animal, human and spiritual, each kingdom energetically stimulates the kingdom below it. The Kingdom of Souls - or as the Bible calls it, the Kingdom of God - the Spiritual Kingdom, grows, is growing, out of the human kingdom. That is to say, a human being is not really an inert, separate mechanical physical entity, however wonderfully complex, but rather a spark of the Divine within an energy field interconnected with all that is, including the Being we call God. We are gods in the making, gradually, through meditation and service becoming consciously aware, more and more inclusively, of higher and higher levels of being. Based on the fact of the soul, that divinity within, the stimulus coming from the Kingdom of Souls through meditation, and the fact that Transmission Meditation provides the technique for contact, development and expression of that divinity on the physical plane, the reader discovers a whole new world of being and a real sense of hope and purpose in life. That Transmission Meditation is unique goes without saying, for it is overseen by members of the group of Masters of Wisdom, Who have guided humanity's progress from its earliest beginnings. Creme himself has spent a major part of his adult life in telepathic rapport with one of these Teachers, and has travelled far and wide for decades preparing the public for Their fully physical appearance among us. The Masters, Creme writes, know, through their own human evolutionary experience, the pitfalls and successes of all human efforts, and They are returning to public work now for the first time in millennia. If we are willing, They wish to show us the best way forward into a brilliant future, but we must be willing to follow Their guidance. That way is through sharing resources and living according to the principle that humanity is one, sons and daughters of the One God. Creme writes that Transmission Meditation is central to Their work, for it provides the opportunity for people of every background, religious or not, to achieve a higher level of awareness by working directly with the Masters and Their Leader, the World Teacher Maitreya, for the rescue and rehabilitation of the world. Many in the already established groups feel that they have come into incarnation at this time to do this work. In the chapter 'The Nature of Transmission Meditation', Creme writes that the transmission of energies has always been pervasive throughout cosmos. In answering questions about the kinds of energies transmitted through the groups in Transmission Meditation, Creme writes that it is Maitreya, the embodiment of Love on Earth, Who receives and directs the spiritual energies from interplanetary, extraplanetary and higher cosmic sources to one or two Masters, Who then send them scientifically through the chakras of those taking part in Transmission Meditation. Thus the powerful spiritual energies are stepped down until, when directed out into the world by Maitreya, they can be absorbed and used by average humanity to come together in synthesis, to co-operatively and wisely resolve problems and to peacefully implement the Aquarian principles upon which a new civilization will be built. The Masters know how much each person can handle, and adjust the Transmission accordingly. Group members have only to sit quietly, speak The Great Invocation together aloud, and hold a positive attention at the ajna center between the eyebrows. In a very real sense, Creme writes, the spiritual growth, the growth in consciousness, of those in Transmission Meditation, is safely in the hands of Masters Who are scientific experts. It is, he writes, a combination of Laya Yoga (the yoga of energies, of the centers or chakras) and Karma Yoga (the yoga of service) that enables serious participants to advance rapidly. Transmission Meditation is a "hot house" of spiritual development. The simplicity of presentation of the esoteric information given in this book is due to Creme's continuing telepathic rapport with his Master, Who answers the questions. It was Creme's Master Who initiated the first Transmission Meditation group in London in 1974. Over the many decades of world travel, giving talks to prepare the public somewhat for the reappearance of Maitreya and the Masters, Creme at the same time held public Transmission Meditations during which time Maitreya overshadowed him and the attendees. People came and experienced the energies, and many formed Transmission Meditation groups in their own towns and cities. Naturally, the questions soon arose: "How long to transmit?"; "How do I maintain the alignment with my soul?"; "Can we do Transmission regardless of our beliefs?"; "How does Transcendental Meditation blend with Transmission Meditation?", and so on. The question-and-answer format has enabled readers to get answers to most of the questions that anyone might ask. Each printing has included additional questions and so there is no mystery left in the reader's mind as to how to organize and function in a Transmission Meditation group. Since Creme has encouraged individuals to form groups of three or more, and to meet regularly for this purpose, reading this primer is essential to understanding the work and appreciating this extraordinary opportunity. It is so important that the book is posted on the Share International website (www.share-international.org) where visitors may download the material free of charge. Transmission Meditation is, Benjamin Creme writes, truly "a gift from the gods". [Biographical note: Betsy Whitfill has a BA in Philosophy from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, USA, and is a Share International co-worker.] --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

More About the Author

A lifelong student of the Ageless Wisdom teachings -- first made available to the public in the late 1800s by H.P. Blavatsky and later by Alice A. Bailey -- Benjamin Creme has traveled the world for more than 30 years informing people that the greatest event in history is now unfolding. Humanity's Elder Brothers -- the Masters of Wisdom -- are once again among us. Soon these ancient guardians of the human race will be working openly at our side, showing us how to live together in peace -- with sharing, justice and Earth stewardship as the keynotes of a new civilization.

In the 16 inspiring and provocative books which have emerged from his lectures, Creme paints an ever more detailed picture of humanity's destiny, both worldly and spiritually. "We are talking about nothing less than the total transformation of every aspect of our lives", he says. Creme's message is both profound and immensely practical. Each book covers a vast range of topics: from meditation and the growth of consciousness to political and economic change, from initiation and group work to ecology and world service. Compelling explanations are offered for the ever-increasing 'miraculous' or unexplained phenomena such as weeping Madonnas, crosses of light, healing waters, crop circles and UFOs. Creme also clarifies misunderstandings about the antichrist and the 'last judgment'.

In close contact with, and trained by, a Master of Wisdom since 1959, Mr. Creme has access to constant up-to-date information on the progress of Maitreya's emergence and the total conviction necessary to present that information to a skeptical world. He is chief editor of Share International, a monthly magazine read in over 70 countries that addresses Maitreya's emergence as well as the changes that are both needed and actually occurring in every field of endeavor to bring about a more just and compassionate global society.

Creme lectures by invitation throughout Europe, North America and the Pacific Rim, and is regularly interviewed on radio and television. He receives no remuneration or royalties for this work and makes no claims about his own spiritual status. His books have been translated and published in numerous languages by groups worldwide who have responded to his message.

"My task," Creme says, "has been to make the initial approach to the public, to help create a climate of hope and expectancy into which Maitreya can emerge without infringing our free will."

Benjamin Creme. Center of a worldwide conspiracy of goodness. Accepting no remuneration, making no claims about his spiritual status. Specializing in Transmission Meditation where members of a group use their centers to step down energies coming from the Masters in order to provide a pool of energy useful for humanity. Colin Wilson says that Creme belongs to the same group as Blake, Blavatsky and Alice Bailey: "A man who sees things that other people do not see, and who tells us about it all." Pronto. In unminced words, clearly, and with a passionate amusement. "In the process of evolving back to the Spirit, we spiritualize the matter of our successive bodies, from the first incarnational experience to the last, leading to the resurrection experience which makes us the perfected Master. In that way we spiritualize the planet." ... This is a handbook of Transmission Meditation, with most of the book taken up with questions and answers, the most useful format in these times of involved new age terminologies and beliefs. Creme, now nearly 80 years old, received his first spiritual communication some forty years ago. He lectures widely across the world, participates in TV and radio interviews--and he's definitely an electric presence. Is there a correct way to sound the Great Invocation? "It is so powerful a mantram and so broad in its margin of error that it can be said perfectly, semi-perfectly or very inadequately and it will still invoke the energies." What is the tingling in the top of my head? "99 times out of 100 it's the energy from your own soul." Is Transmission Meditation more potent than other forms? "Yes.Read more ›

Anyone who is serious about manifesting the God within, would be wise to get a copy of the book, study it, and join a Transmission Meditation group, or start a group if there are none in their area.
Like Mr. Creme's other books, this one is direct and to the point. It dispells many common misconceptions about meditation and explains the transmission process in great detail. Creme answers many excellent questions about this group meditation in simple English, in that typically good natured, no nonsense manner of his.
The book is essential reading for anyone interested in meditation, from the beginner to the more advanced students.

This meditation simply has nothing to do with anything I've ever seen. When I first read this book, I disliked the idea of meditating, and still now, I have a lot of difficulties staying still while doing personnal meditation. But when doing 'transmission' I can stay for hours, without seeing the time go by and without ever feeling impatient!!! I simply recommend this book to everyone (even those (just like me when I first read it) who dislikes meditating).

If you're looking for a meditation combined with a method of serving the world, then this is a 'must read'.
When I read a previous edition 5 years ago it immediately galvanised me to try this group meditation. The updated version is written in such a way that it is accessible to the general public and full of detailed information that answers many questions readers may have.
After 5 years of regular group meditations, I can vouchsafe this as a very effective yet simple meditation that helps the world and also has many personal benefits. In my case I went from being like 'a ship without a rudder', prone to mood swings and lacking confidence, to someone who is much more at peace, balanced, with vision, discipline and energy.
This is a very special book for me as it galvanised me to tread 'the spiritual path'...and I haven't looked back since!

The author, Benjamin Creme, reveals in his book the importance of doing Transmission Meditation and the effect it has on our world.

Mr. Creme reveals the basic purpose of any meditation. He also explains how to start and nuture your own Transmission Meditation group, as well as its beneficial outcome on those involved and the larger community.

I deeply encourage you to give this book and Transmission Meditation a try. Transmission Meditation has been a powerful form of service in my life. Not only has it given me a way to contribute to healing our world, but has enhanced me - physically, emotionally, mentally, and most certainly spiritually. Transmission Meditation is service to the world and to your own spiritual expansion, accomplished at the same time.

I too, was initially skeptical of the claims made that in just one year of Transmission Meditation one can make the same kind of spiritual advance as in 10 - 20 years of ordinary meditation. But my doubts to the effectiveness of Transmission Meditation have long since passed. After sixteen years of practice I see a remarkable difference in myself, especially in my ability to love, accept and cooperate with others in my life.

As described in the book Transmission Meditation is quite simple. You physically meet with two or more people. Then everyone attending sounds aloud the Great Invocation, which is a very powerful prayer to bring through very potent, healing energies. All that is required during Transmission Meditation is to center your focus at the ajna center - the chakra between the eyebrows. The ancient mantra OM is used to help hold that alignment. It is a simple method, but for most beginners not easy.
