Editorial Reviews

This London group's 2003 debut, "The Neon Handshake", burst forth on an unsuspecting scene and went on to hit the UK top 20, garner rave press, and top year-end polls. The band's intense riffs, hooky choruses, and seamless blend of emo, punk, and alternative caught the attention of Sweden's Burning Heart label, where they now take their place beside such genre busters as Refused and International Noise Conspiracy. This, their label debut, showcases a band that continues to grow and reinvent themselves. Rock 'n' roll at its rawest, melodic, and breathtaking. For fans of At The Drive In, Bear Vs. Shark, and Sparta.

3.0 out of 5 stars More solid production from Sweden, June 23, 2006
This review is from: Transmit Disrupt (Audio CD)
I first heard this record late last year and just never picked it up because I thought there wasn't enough music for the pricetag. I walked into a used record store the other day (looking for Tom Petty of all things!) and found this for 5 bucks! It was a killer record day for sure. Anyway, I was mostly interested in this record because this is the latest production from Eskil Lovstrom and Pelle Henricsson. (Refused-The Shape of punk to come etc.) They really make this record a standout as they do with all their other work and I feel if it wasn't for them this record wouldn't be nearly as good.

That aside, this is a really good record. If it were lost or stolen I'd buy another at full cost because it has grown on me. Stand out tracks for me are "Kamichi" "Transmit Disrupt" and "Silent as the Grave" I would re-purchase this album for just those three tracks. Anyway, a good way to describe this band is (I feel) they are a perfect mixture of Bloc Party, Refused and Fugazi. If you like those bands you'll probably dig this record. I'm not saying they don't have their own thing going on, which they do, but they have elements of each afformentioned band and I dig all three...so it's no wonder I like it.

Bottom Line: A standout among others from last year, but not exactly a huge landmark record. Production is first rate. All tracks are worth listening to with some major standouts. Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sufficient Rock Music, July 8, 2007
This review is from: Transmit Disrupt (Audio CD)
Perhaps Neon Handshake shines a bit brighter than this album on many levels. Though you cannot discount a few rock gems on Transmit Disrupt. Such as: "Kamichi" ; "Models For The Programme" ; "One Of Us" and "Silent As The Grave." The album is enjoyable in it's own right. Conveniently unpretentious.
