Mediagate Kit,

This product emits a "beep" every 20 seconds or so. The seller claims this is required by some Federal regulation!! If you want to use it to listen to loud music, you can probably drown out the sound of the beep, but since I listen to audiobooks, it was an unacceptable annoyance to me.

where is the Beeping sound?,
This review is from: Lcd Car Fm Transmitter/Charger For Apple Ipod Nano New (Electronics)
I had this ikit for about 3 weeks I can say this is one of my best buy for the iPhone accessories, it worth every penny. Sounds Come out from FM are very clear and Really didn't heard any Beeping sounds, maybe they Fixed the problem for it I don't know but so far I like it a lot. It charge my 3G iPhone and Transmit music to FM in the same time and it also come with the telephone hands-free function, for the price like this, I am going to just buy one more for my sister for her coming birthday.
Edit** Just to clarify the model I bought is "Mediagate iKIT V2" I am not sure if this is the one, cus I know my friend actually got the fake one from different company which the quality are totally mess up, this is a great product but just make sure ask the seller before you buy to check if is the right model, I heard the V3 is coming out soon which is improve 3G iphone charging speed, so I might get a new one once it is out.

I originally bought this Lcd Car Fm Transmitter/Charger For Apple Ipod Nano New for my iPhone 3G a little over a year ago and now on my iPhone 4. This has been working flawlessly over the year and I use this every time I have to travel to distant places.
The first thing I'd like to point out is that I DO NOT hear any beeping sounds coming from this. Second, I get that buzzing noise when there is no audio playing from my iPhone and the transmitter is set to a channel that has an active FM radio signal in the area (for example; your transmitter is set to 98.7FM in LA which is also STAR 98.7FM which is all over LA). But I am sure one of the presets are open; What I did was hit the preset button, get the number, unplug the transmitter then switched the car radio to that channel until the channel comes out clear. Here in LA, my preset is 100.1FM and I haven't encountered any problems so far. The audio for me comes out excellent and is definitely more clearer than what I get from a regular FM radio. So it is for sure that the audio does not come out all lame and stuff, it comes out pretty rich for me. This also does charge my iPhone 4 without a problem (none of that "device not supported" stuff). I would agree that I could connect any Apple device on this such as the iPod Touch, Classic and the older Nano. The sides does not close far enough for the iPod Nano (two generations ago) to hold it in place, so I hope you get the idea there. I hardly use this transmitter as my hands free device because it would mean one extra connection to my phone (from audio output from iPhone to input on transmiter) but my iPhone on speaker mode during a call is adequate enough to make a call. I do have some complaints though but I will not lower my rating because of this. First is that the device tends to fall on its own by the weight of my iPhone if it is not centered from the cigarette plug, but I'd say it's better like this anyways since I always read my phone upright. Second, the head of the device tends to loosen over time so it requires some tightening of the screw every now and then. Other than that, I'm really happy for this device and the value is well it's worth and you can manage to skip lunch one day for this FM transmitter. Overall, I wish it had a remote to go to my car wheel but I don't expect more from a cheap transmitter like this. But it works pretty well for me and I would definitely buy one of these again without a doubt.

This product is awful it falls out of the lighter thing every time you hit a bump or turn the corner or have to stop real fast. The music does play good but other then that the product SUCKS.

I need a way that I could speak on my iphone with hands free and way to listen my musics on my car since the stereo doesn't has an aux input. So I gave it a try. It blowed 2 times the fuse. I think it is overtaking the power.

This is a poor Car Dock & Transmitter. It has a few issues to contend with. 1) The unit does not support itself - I had to bungee cord the thing to keep it upright in the power port/cigarette lighter. 2) The pass through phone feature does not work with my iPhone 3G. 3) The annoying beeping comes and goes, depending on what I don't know - solar flares? 4) Tuning to a clear station can be a pain in some locals when traveling, but for the most part will hold onto a locked frequency. Also, I have been having an issue with the thing periodically not keeping up with the battery charging while playing video or using the GPS map directions feature on the docked iPhone.
**Update** - I now only use the earbud plug wire to transmit to the radio, and use an independent car charger for the iPhone. No more beeping and it keeps up the charge, and the radio tuning issues have also gone away - it locks onto FM 88.1. My employer bought us all Blue Ant blue tooth devices to handle the hands free phone use. It's still a poor piece of junk, because I have to do all of this to make it work.

Not the best but OK,

First one I received wasn't working so I requested replacement and got it ok. The problem of the first unit was it's making strange noises as 'T. Bickle' mentioned below but even without iPhone hooked up, also it didn't charge iPhone. The second unit I received does charge ok, however, it still has that weird hissing noise, luckly it's pretty much diminished than the first one. Other than that it's working fine, no beeping, haven't had a chance to use it as handsfree function. At this price, it was $20.93 which I puchased, I think it's ok, hence 3 stars.
ps. Since I didn't have to return the first defected unit, I disassembled it hoping to find the source of noise. Even though I couldn't find any direct cause, blame my ignorance in electric, it didn't have any shield in any parts.

Use this with my iPhone 3g. When you plug it in the iPhone asks you if you want to run in 'airplane mode'. I get a lot of interference locally and its difficult to find a clear band. Although I get no beep I do get a sweeping frequency filtering effect every few minutes. Its as if the power cable is unshielded. If I use the iPhone with the audio cable and don't plug in the transmitter cable I get no sweeping effect and a better and clearer sound. I do need to crank up the volume in this mode however. It does charge my iPhone when plugged in and the mount is perfect for my Honda Accord. It makes using the GPS much easier. All in all at this price I'd by it again.
