Nailhanging is fun, and so is Hangnail.,

This review is from: Transparent (Audio CD)
As you may already know, this is a Christian band. The lyrics on this album are not preachy, though, as one might expect. However, most of the songs are opptimistic and uplifting with a definite positive message. Though the lyrics are simple, they are kept to the point. The vocalist, while his vocal ability teeters in the same midrange throughout most of the album, gives this band a pop/punk feel, while the rhythm guitar is slightly heavier than expected from a band of that genre. The other guitarist works a lot of melody into the mixture, though, using single string picking and higher-pitch sounding chords throughout most parts of every song. The drummer normally uses a steady beat, a bit uncreative/unoriginal for most parts, but his drum fills and sudden stops are the true gems in the rhythm department that make the songs more interesting. The weakest instrument is sadly the bass which is sometimes lost in the mixture of guitars. The bassist (which is also the main vocalist) is usually somewhat uninteresting. It feels like he's just fulfilling the most basic requirements of a bass player. Overall, the end product is great, but could be better. Don't look for fantastic musicianship except from the melodic guitar player, but do look for fun, upbeat songs with positive messages that could lift up the spirits of anyone who is willing to listen to what Hangnail has to offer.
