Editorial Reviews

Review

"Overall, I found Transplantation Pathology to be well worth reading. This book will serve as a valuable reference for transplant centers and pathology training programs."
--Journal of the American Medical Association

"This compilation of contributions from experts in transplant pathology is organized to give a well organized approach to biopsy interpretation. These clinical and morphologic presentations are explained in the context of basic science data to emphasize the significance of pathology. The author is conversant with both pathology and clinical aspects of transplant pathology. The book captures the importance of combining the clinical, histologic, molecular, and laboratory data to reach a consensus diagnosis and treatment plan. It sufficiently covers diagnostic problems that one may encounter in common organ transplantation patients. The emphasis is on important diagnostic features and the underlying pathogenesis, the appropriate use of ancillary techniques, and correlation with laboratory and clinical findings. The excellent color illustrations complement the text and demonstrate the most characteristic features of described entities as well as their variants. The references are modern, well chosen, and represent pathology, medical, and surgical transplantation journals. This is a modestly priced book belongs in the working library of any pathologist who reviews transplantation biopsies. Medical and surgical transplant personnel would be advised to have this book, as it clearly encompasses the pathologic and clinical aspects of transplant pathology. It should also be available to residents and fellows and deserves to be on the shelves of departmental and hospital libraries. The author has done an excellent job of creating a comprehensive work on transplantation pathology."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, September 13, 2009
This review is from: Transplantation Pathology (Cambridge Medicine) (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book on the pathology of the most commonly transplanted solid organs. It also includes brief information on skin problems after transplantation and composite tissue allotransplantation. Each chapter includes excellent coverage of acute cell rejection, antibody mediated rejection, and other pathological features like artheriopathy. C4d deposition is well analyzed in each chapter. The book includes a CD will all images and diagrams, very useful for your presentations.

The authors must be congratulated for their work.
