THE RETURN OF DEEP DARK TRANCE !!!,

If you're looking for happy little techno tunes with splashy la la vocals that you can sing along with or disco funky progressive house...you've come to the wrong place. HOWEVER...if you love deep, dark, big and bad TRANCE then this is the ticket !!! This Tranceport goes in a different direction than its recent predecessors. I can liken it to a Saturday night set at ClubSpace in Miami....dark and omnious but terrifyingly delicious. Quivver starts to build nicely in tracks 1-4 but its at track 5 where he starts to really rip it loose !! And on track 6 he lives up to his name....from there until the end (track 13). I was listening to this cd on my way home from work and I couldn't get the smile off my face....track 6 will give you the "weeee" feeling you get on a ferris wheel...its intense !! A MUST FOR HARD, DARK, TRANCE FANS.....Quivver is serving up what you love. For you less than hardcore and groovy luscious progressors, you may feel a little lost!!

Progressive, Deep, Dark....the way Quivver wanted it.,

first off, to those who think this is a TRANCE CD, it's not. But, what it is, is a great progressive house CD. Quivver knew what he had in mind when mixing this CD. Keep it dark, keep it deep. The CD cover even fits the mood. I am a big trance head, who just recently fell in love with the deep progressive sound, and i had this CD for months before i actually "heard" it. One day, you just listen, and the progressive sound hits you, just like trance did, or will do....i recommend this CD, but keep in mind, it is not a clubby,... shakin', hands in the air mix. It is good for the ride home from the club, or chill atmosphere at the house, enjoying a drink or 2 or 3....anyways, TRANCEPORT was Oakenfold, Ralph, Collins....this is now TRANSPORT...transporting you to the other level.

I'm a real trance addict and never had the passion for progressive house. But "Transport 5" had changed my way of thinking. Now, I deeply lust for it.The first time I notice Quivver was "And She Does" (Quivver Alternative Mix) from John Digweed's "Hong Kong". Ever since then, I've been searching albums by him. "Transport 5" was his only available album. Altogether, the tracks here act as a whole, blending nicely into each other. They can tell a story. I highly recommend putting on headphones so you won't miss any details (turn volume up). The echoes, whispers, and strange noises truly give you a creepy feeling (think of Halloween). Tracks like, "NYCU - Loki (James Holden Inertia remix)" and "I Love You - John Creamer & Stephane K/Oliver Twisted (Hybrid mix)" will haunt you and make your heart beat very fast. "Discotek - Hamel & Blackwatch" is a bit trancey and the least horrifying. Count me in, too. His original "Boz Boz" certainly is impressive. It's just so yummy with the blur blur effect. That's the main reason why I buy this album...Quivver (John Graham), I'm hungry for more.

May be the best in the series.,

First of all I would like to say that NYCU James Holden interia mix is probably the best tune on the cd!! What a great album from Quiver or John Graham. I was not aware that he dj's untill a couple months ago when it was released that he was doing the new transport album. Wow, did he do a great job on my new fav cd of the moment. dark driving, heavy, all killer no filler, full steam ahead kick arse compilation. I DJ myself and it was cool to see a couple records I love on this compilation. If you like deep, dark, driving, progressive house check this out you won t be disapointed. And its not boring dark progrssive house wich is giving progressive house a bad rep lately it has lots of substance and flavour. Check it out! And any one who calls this compilation boring is out of their minds...Sandra Collins cream comp was boring but not this banger..

I cannot believe i have never heard this cd or even most of the songs on it.
There are bad cd's, there are okay cd's, there are good cd's, there are great cd's and there are underground classics that are beggin' to be unearthed, and from the deep dark relm of goblins and make believe, comes this unbelievable jaw dropper. The first 4 songs are ok, but from 5 on I could not (like a previous reviewer) get the dang smile off my face. I have to say that #5 has perhaps the most intense baseline and (back) clap i have EVER heard and i have been into electronic music for 11 years. #9 is breaks played by Satan and composed by God. #11 "Loki" is a darn fine mixture of 'lupie' 'bouncey' 3am in the morning 'chuggy' house. This cd is now 5 years old, but it is so far ahead of its time thats its scary. I would give anything for this to have been a 2 disk set, but he definately avoided the 'filler' songs that have been embraced by Digweed and the like. GOOD JOB, i am buying every cd ever made by this man. Before i have just been exposed to his production of songs not mix sets, but here on amazon i discovered this and i will get everyone they have. Breath-taking...That was my first thought in listening to this cd. The first couple of tracks are ok BUT, when track 3 starts, buckle your seat belts. Tracks 3-9 are top notch, with track 5 being my personal favorite. Yes, it is darker than most sets but not evil (if that makes sense). Quivver's taste in music is very refined. In the 10 years I have been listening to house, I have rarely heard such exquisite, sophisticated form of house. No whimpy, over-the-top, vocal house here. Just straight, melodic, thumping house. A "MUST HAVE" CD.

Got to Give the Depth a Chance....,

After careful, repeated listenings, this has definitely become my favorite Transport/Tranceport album yet. I must admit, it seemed sketchy at first, but after each listen, it just kept growing and digging... it's definitely a muscial journey, and if you're looking for Oakenfold-y anthems, you won't find them here. However, you will find sinister, dark, deep, sexy rhythms and simple yet hypnotizing melodies. Tracks 3, 6, and 9 stand out as particularly menacing bits, but all of it is great. If you like the darker, more "evil" side of trance, you ought to love this. There's a reason the album cover looks like it does.I can't wait to hear more from John Graham.

PERFECT Halloween mix,
This review is from: Transport: Quivver (Audio CD)
First, I love this disc for what it is, full stop. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, this is the ultimtate Halloween mix of all mixes. I totally understand where some reviewers are coming from when they say that Transport 5 verges toward the repetitive, and that it may serve you better as background music. Fair enough. However, in terms of background music, I feel compelled to repeat myself: Quivver = Transport 5 = Perfect Halloween party goodness. Buy it now, play it at your chosen Halloween bash, be pleased.

I was not immediately captured by this latest installment of the Tranceport series, to tell you the truth. But by the time I got to the middle of the album I was overcome by the gorgeous beats that filled the airspace! The ones that said this album is boring are not true enthusiasts of progressive house, they're better off sticking to their uplifting trance music. Progressive house is dark and yet full of energy, and I think Quivver demonstrated my point by using tracks that are exactly that. This compilation does not bore you, nor does it pump you up and keep you there the whole time. It merely absorbs you so that you become part of the energy. I must also commend Quivver for his smooth mixes throughout the whole album. He is certainly one of the best I've heard. I would not rank this one up there with Max Graham's Tranceport 4, but it is certainly not far behind.

A very deep, very dark, brooding, pumping, instant classic,

This is a dark, spooky, oh so deep, progressive house/trance ride, that is the best of its genre, a bit naughty and sexy to boot. I rarely hand out five stars, but this galloping black warhorse merits it. Max Graham (aka "Quivver") hits his stride here with compelling deep basslines, and a eerie, nay spooky atmospherics throughout. Played loud, very loud, and the true beauty of this brooding monster is revealed. It reminds you of doing something naughty if not perverse and twisted in the dark..... The dark spooky cover, and the first track "mask of Loki" clue you into the scary mood--Loki being a rather dubious Scandinavian god, his mask would bring out your darkest desires and personality...Graham sprinkles repeating signature "scary" keyboard whooshes and wheezes, creaks and groans throughout to hold the dark velvet atmosphere together thematically. The mix is blessedly devoid of all but the most minimal vocal samples, and the sheer velvety pump of this blend carries itself without vocal stylings. The flavor of this set is more progressive house with its familiar "boom-chik-boom-chick" tempo, than trance, but the blending of both is there, with dashes of tribal and techno. Graham is a master at selecting tracks with varied, interesting beat patterns and overall creates enough interest to keep your attention without getting bored. Compare Fortier's prog house mix on Bedrock, where for the first three tracks on CD-1 you start to yawn (although its a great disc on the whole, and worth buying also). The originality of Graham shines through with track three which is a sort of techno pop trance riff that is the most unusual on any such collection I have heard. This is a grittier, sexier, and more textured sound than Graham produced with Transport 4 which had a cleaner keyboard feel, although 4 and 5 share the submersible urge when played back to back, Transport 4 being more trancey. I challenge anyone to crank up your car sounds to "eleven", and not get the chills. The sound is layered, chunking, pulsing, deep, and complex, and reveals something new on each listen. And I disagree with those who say it lacks a peak, it peaks around track 11/12 as it should and the driving intensity is maintained effectively. Speaking of driving, this is superb late night driving music. Here Graham's underwordly creature makes Digweed's Hong Kong and Los Angeles sets look distinctly watery. This set is I believe grossly underrated, and sets the benchmark for whats deep in 2002. Time will shine this subterannean gem to a lustre, but play it in the pitch black of night only...preferably with a very good, yet very naughty, friend. |
