Better than nothing,

This review is from: Vw Transporter (82-90) Service and Repair Manual (Haynes Service & Repair Manual) (Hardcover)
I bought this book because I was trying to troubleshoot a windshield wiper electrical problem. I have a 1985 Vanagon, however I found the electrical diagrams lacking. Although, this book covers 1982-1990 Transporters, there was only a single "typical/representative" diagram for all those years. Therefore, I did not have a specific 1985 electrical diagram which I needed. In my opinion this severely limits the usefulness of the electrical section. Since third party Repair manuals for Vanagons are hard to find, I am hopeful that the rest of this book will be more useful.

Great Resource,
This review is from: Vw Transporter (82-90) Service and Repair Manual (Haynes Service & Repair Manual) (Hardcover)
The guide is what can be expected of Haynes - thorough and clear descriptions of pretty much everything the DIY mechanic would attempt on the VW Vanagon. The book will save you money and time (and frustration) and should give even the most novice mechanic the confidence to attempt jobs they wouldn't usually approach.

Not exactly a page turner,

Of course reading a technical manual about how to maintain and/or repair a car is not the sort of reading you do for fun anyway. This book is well written. It is clear and contains the information I needed. I recently purchased an '85 Vanagon Wetfalia camper and the engine is balky. I am still working on that. I have a Bentley manual as well. The Bentley is also good, but lacked a good description of how to adjust the throttle body idle speed screw and how to remove the little led lights in the instrument cluster. The Haynes manual filled those gaps. Between these two books I am sure to find the information I need to keep my vehicle running well.
