Book Description

New Concepts in Human Sexuality April 1991
Transvestism is a firmly rooted psychological phenomenon and cultural tradition, in spite of religious, legal and social sanctions. Written 80 years ago, this book was and still is the most comprehensive treatise on the subject of transvestism, illustrating that while styles have changed, the enthusiasm of devotees has not.

I am an autogynephilic transsexual. I used to be a crossdresser for erotic purposes. Hirschfeld was the precursor of Ray Blanchard's theory, which explains that I--and other transsexuals who begin life as men and who are mainly attracted to women--are motivated by a paraphilia consisting of the fantasy that we are women. I never was innately feminine, but the idea of being feminine really turned (turns) me on. It's a strange thing, and Hirschfeld really understood.
