5.0 out of 5 stars One of a kind !, April 9, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Trap in DVD [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this movie when I was about 10 years old, and I never forgot it... Ten years later, I decided to watch it again, wondering if I'd adore it as much. Well, I loved it ! And this movie stands among my favorites of all time, like the GODFATHER,... For me it is a real classic, so underrated and overlooked (unfortunately) in my view... It's a movie you never forget, and when it ends, I always find myself wanting more - God knows how many times I've watched it ! :-D
The story is great, and most important, the actors are just perfect ! Rita Tushingham's performance is just perfect, without a single word comin' out of her mouth ; Oliver Reed's performance is perfect too, AND combined, just watchin' these two actors is worth the price... I never get tired of them ; they manage to create such a powerful (and yet so simply shown) love story filled with adventures... For me, this movie is really a special and unique cinematic moment. All emotions are felt throughout this movie : especially in Oliver Reed's performance, his "realism" creates a good sense of humour, and I fall in love with his character as much as Eve (Tushingham)...
I couldn't say enough about this movie, it touches me everytime I see it... Beautiful landscapes and a thrilling scene with wolves, and a great soundtrack too ( I sometimes find myself singing Jean la B?te's theme song, which Oliver Reed sings in the movie too ;-) )
WHEN WILL IT COME OUT ON DVD ???? It's frustrating to see so many of Oliver Reed's worst film moments (in my view) on DVD, and still not have THE TRAP available on DVD... I hope there will be something done about this soon... ;-)

This review is from: The Trap [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 12 yrs. old. I have been trying to find it for years. I can't say enough about the director amd the scenery was absolutely breath taking. I would loved to see this movie put on DVD. It made an impression, that can never be forgotten. I would love for my family to see this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!, September 6, 2006
This review is from: The Trap in DVD [VHS] (VHS Tape)
After seeing this movie, as a lad, in the local cinema in the UK, I joined the Hudson's Bay Company and went to the far Canadian north to trade furs with the Eskimoes and Cree indians. A great experience. Movies really can influence our lives. Hope to see it on DVD, one day!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Trap - 1966, August 30, 2009
This review is from: The Trap in DVD [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love this movie and always have. I remember when this movie would air about 3 times a year on TV. That was many years ago. I wish I could purchase this film. What puzzles me is why it's not available, since it's a fairly popular movie in demand. Although there are a few exceptions, I dislike many of the current movies being produced today and enjoy many of the older classics. I'm looking forward to seeing "The Trap" on DVD - SOON!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Among the Very Best, January 3, 2009

This movie is perfection and should have won all kinds of awards. Its about a French Canadian trapper who wants a wife and buys a shy, frightened, unwilling mute girl. The way the story unfolds is wonderful, brilliant, riveting. It's the kind of story you won't ever forget. In the 70's I used to watch this movie every time it was on television. I will not feel complete until I can get a copy on DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Trap, May 3, 2008
This review is from: The Trap in DVD [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am 64 years old and after many years of movie viewing, with all the special FX and state of the art techniques, The Trap remains my favorite film. I've only seen it once but the memory of it is still vivid in my mind's eye. I have told so many people about this film and the impact it had on me so many years ago, and would so much appreciate seeing it come out on DVD for others to enjoy. Hope this happens soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the TOP 5 Movies ever made as far as I'm concerned, September 12, 2010
This review is from: The Trap in DVD [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The first time I saw this movie was in 1969 in a small theater in Toronto.
I liked it so well, I went back and saw it in the theater 2 more times.
I agree with the sentiment that it needs to be upgraded and re-released in DVD format.
My top 5 movies are:
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
- Shane
- Rob Roy (Liam Neeson version)
- The Trap
- & Avatar (Pandora Planet version ;o)
It's awful tough trying to decide amongst these 5 which is the absolute best and it seems as if I choose the one just recently watched. Welllllllllllll I just finished "The Trap" tonight and my old VHS version is getting a little scratchy. Still loved every moment of it. All of the actors are perfect.
All the best,
Doc Shillington

5.0 out of 5 stars Would LOVE to see this movie on DVD!, October 21, 2010

I saw this movie for the first time when I was a little girl. My mom loves the movie and I can see why. It is a beautiful story. It is about a pretty young woman who cannot speak. She is sold as a wife to a rough, huge, scary looking fur trapper who takes her to live in his cabin in the wilderness...She is very afraid of him at first and the living conditions are harsh but over time a strong bond grows between them. I would never spoil such a great ending but all I will say is: It is very touching story. I am generally not into romantic movies and this movie isn't a conventional 'mushy' romance film but maybe that is why I like it. I hope to see it on DVD one day!
