Really Good Album,
By
This review is from: Trap House (Audio CD)
This is a really good debut album by Gucci Mane, and a very underrated one at that. Maybe his music and lyrics aren't for everyone but if you like his style then you'll love this album. He just has a good flow and alot of comedy in his rhymes and i was just really feeling the album all the way through.

When i first heard Icy I thought Gucci mane was going to be anotha 1 hit wonder. But I was wrong he has came out very strong with dis debut album. Some of his lyrics are kind've corny but i think he's still a good rapper. Hes one of the best in the south.

I would advise the person reading this to wash their ears out because chances are you already downloaded the cd. N that sucks for you because you just wasted a cd. How could Jeezy ever want to rap with an atrocious vocab 1 hit wonder haver. Nuff Said

Liked So Icy,

I listened to the album a few weeks later after the Icy song came out. But even if Gucci Mane can come up with the silliest lyrics about his jewelry in that song, that song is so funky! Why isn't it even higher on the music charts? There must have been a live band in that studio on that song! Because the glistening percussion is so phenomenal. And the keyboards and basslines fit so perfectly with the beats and Gucci's raps. It is so infectious and catchy with its Atlanta sound and gives some of Lil' Jon's crunk-heavy records some competition. Maybe even the more acclaimed Outkast's hit songs. This is a hot song that could even challenge the very popular 50 Cent's recent hits of Candy Shop and Just a Lil' Bit. It sounds very 1986 with its Casio-like keyboard sound or mixing '80s excess with the 2005 bling style of New Orleans' Cash Money artists. The rest of the album is just as solid, very Atlanta-based with the popular crunk sound from that city. It can be a little repetitive on some songs, but it's just as infectious. While Mane has gotten in trouble as of recently, hopefully he can look past that and concentrate more on his music career. He will be a face to watch in music with his flamboyant rap style.

This is one of the only flat-out fun records to come out of GA in the last couple of years which doesn't sound like Lil' John or Dungeon Family. Naw, it doesn't match up to Bun B, Chamillionare and Black Rob's new joints, but it totally runs one on 'Thug Motivation', and I'd put it up against anything else from '05, including Beanie, Slim Thug, and Lil' Wayne. No doubt Gucci only knows about ten words, but the beats are gold-plated platinum and he makes up for his preschool vocab with his style so straynge. And there's a lot more on here than "Icy". Listen to "Corner Cuttin" or "Two Thangs" and try to tell me that the Mane doesn't know exactly what he's doing. When did having a sense of humor become a bad thing in hip-hop? Everyone throwing up hate needs to tuck their chains back in.

Beef aside ... y'all gotta admit this album is jammin. Trap House, That's All, Booty Shorts ... Black Tee, Corner Cuttin. Come on!!! Did the haters even listen to the album?? He does throw some jokes in, but that's his style. Put the album back in your system and turn the volume up. I bet by the time you get to Go Head you will find a song you like. EVEN the jeezy fans have ICY and BLACK TEE .... nuff said
