I Don't Know Why People Sleep on This Album,
By The Idle Receptionist (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trap Muzik (Audio CD)
I didn't really like T.I.'s first album, so i dont know why i decided to get this one. I guess it was when i heard 24s for the first time. But I'm so happy i bought this CD. T.I. is cool because he talks about what he knows, & he's real, not just talking about his money & cars & girls. It's a refreshing change. This album is mostly about the beats, because T.I.'s flow isnt that amazing. You could put any lyrics about anything on these beats & the CD would still be good. There are some songs that are heads & shoulders above the rest: Everything else isn't bad, just not as good as these songs, but i would definitely buy this CD even if you're not into southern hip hop. Trust me, it's way better than Ludacris's garbage & most other southern hip hop albums.

The Truth,

I bought this CD because I liked his Debut album, but I got much more than expected. Don't Hate Me Shawty is one of my favorites. His approach is innovative and fresh. He breaths life into a lackluster industry that's focus has been how much bling and things can make you broke before you even have a real hit. Real South folk are going to love this one. He made a name for himself in the region with I'm Serious... I just didn't know how serious (and talented) he was before I heard this one.

T.I.P.'s best work,
By
This review is from: Trap Muzik (Audio CD)
Trap Muzik, the 2nd of T.I.P.'s three albums to date, finds him in his best form. While both I'm Serious and Urban Legend have some great tracks, Trap Muzik is far more consistent than I'm Serious and gives us more of what we really want, T.I.P., than Urban Legend, which relies too heavily on guest artists. Some of the themes on this album are perfectly typical gangsta topics: hoes, drugs, and bling. Others, however, like Be Better than Me and T.I. versus T.I.P. tackle issues of living up to one's potential and avoiding the mistakes of the past. T.I. versus T.I.P. is particularly effective in analyzing the themes of authenticity and in coming to terms with both the past and the present problems that can trouble us. T.I.P. urges himself to break out of the mistakes of the past and take advantage of his opportunities, "man you'd be a fool if you blow this lid."
Other standouts are Let's Get Away, Look what I got, Rubberband Man, and I still Luv you. 24s is pretty good too. Recommended.

One word to describe this album Incredible,
By
This review is from: Trap Muzik (Audio CD)
In all seriousness Trap Musik is one of the best albums to ever come out of the south. Unlike Lil Flip, Cash Money (excluding Lil Wayne) talkin about their diamonds and cars, T.I has defefinately brought in a breath of fresh air. Production on the cd was aight but the lyrics was crazy. Im not even going to lie, i slept pretty damn hard on this album until my cousin told me to stop actin stupid and cop the album. Since then this particular cd has been consistantly in the rotation for over a year. One of the best advice he ever gave me. Here are my favorite tracks on the album:
-Be Easy -No More Talk -Doin my Job -24's -Rubberband Man -Look what I got -Let me tell you something (One of my favorite tracks ever. Just absolutely incredible) -T.I vs. T.I.P That is more than 50 percent of the album thats fire. I am definately not taking anything away from the others their hot too. Look stop reading these review and cop the album you will be doin yourself injustice by not doing so.

The Other Side of the Game,
By Groovemasta "groovemasta" (Washington, DC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trap Muzik (Audio CD)
So far, 2003 is shaping up to be the year of the southern invasion in hip-hop. Atlanta crime-rhyme spitter T.I. is the latest in a seres of regional stars to explode onto the national scene with anthems that get crowds crunk from NY to LA and everywhere in between. To that end, T.I.'s lead single, "24's" is 4 minutes of pure dirty south adrenaline. Fans fiendin' for more of the crunk will certainly find their fix with Trap Muzik, but the strives for much more than just tearin' the club up. The Trap referred to in the title is the drug game, of which T.I. rhymes on "I Can't Quit", "I this far from a star/and just this close to quittin'". Throughout the album, he goes beyond standard crime rhymes and offers contemplative meditations on the game he is about to leave. "T.I. vs. T.I.P." is T.I.'s dialog with himself. A part of him is still drawn to his former lifestyle, but ultimately he rationalizes why his life has to change. "Be Better Than Me" urges kids in similar circumstances to avoid the temptations the seduced T.I. himself into the Trap. And "I Still Love You" is both an offering of forgiveness (to his absent father) and a pledge to do better (to his own children). But the albums highlights come back to back on "No More Talk" and the Kanye West produced, "Doin' My Job". On the former, T.I. deftly places the nihilistic life of inner city "trappin'" in the larger context of a world where "you can die on a plane and they'll say it's a bomb/when they run it into the tour they'll just say it's Sadam". And on the latter, he humanizes the often villified street entrapanuars, explaining that he is simply making a living. While his logic might be flawed, the song offers the most poignant moments on one of the year's better albums.

It's madd tight dawg!!!!,
This review is from: Trap Muzik (Audio CD)
I known T.I. since his 1st album "I'm Serious", but I did not buy that album. I wished I could but I was broke at the time. But when I heard T.I. come back song "24s", I had to go out and buy this album. So here is my review of this album:01) Trap Muzik (Featuring Mac Boney) - Its the introduction song to the album, I like the beat on this song also. 02) I Can't Quit - He's basically sayin' I will not quit the rap game until he's good and ready. 03) Be Easy - His 2nd single, I love this song. People know need to "Be Easy" and stop killin' one another. 04) No More Talk - It's a serious track, it's tellin' a story that people need to stop talkin' and just listen to him. 05) Doin' My Job - The title speaks for itself it samples from an old track, I agree that he's just doin' his job in this tricky rap game. 06) Let's Get Away - He saying let's get away from all your problems. I really relate to this song. Jazzy Pha produced this song, so u know its hot. 07) 24's - I know you all heard this song, its the reason why I bought this album in the 1st place. I love the beat, and his rhymes are tight. 08) Rubber Band Man - This song is so addictive, I hear people @ my school singin' this one. Wearin' rubber bands and all. Well I wonder exactly what the rubber band represents? 09) Look What I Got - He basically braggin' 2 all the hataz against him. He's sayin' look what he got that you don't 10) I Still Love U - This is a relationship track. It talks about basic problems in relationships, and pregnacy. 11) Let Me Tell You Something - This song samples "I Wanna Be Your Man". Well I like this song, an improvement from the original. 12) T.I. vs. T.I.P. - He is basically talkin' 2 hisself. One person is making a better point than the other. At the end you wonder who comes out on top? 13) Bezzle (featuring 8 Ball & MJG, Bun B of UGK) - This song is a crunk type track. It's a mobb or click track. I love the different verses from all these rappers on this one track. 14) Kingofdasouth - It's one of those chill tracks, not very crunk, but not boring, it's one of those tracks. He's basically talkin' about his career. 15) Be Better Than Me - Well on this track he's tellin' his fans to be better than him. The beat on this joint is traight sick, I never seen anyone who could flow 2 such a beat so well. That's what I like about T.I. he's very consisitant. 16) Long Live Da Game - This song is basically tellin' a story about a man who had just got killed. The circumstances he went through livin' his life. I loved this album, I enjoyed every track, it wasn't boring at all. He really did his thang on this track. What I love the most about T.I. he never 4gets where he came from. He don't flash about "Bling Bling" on every track on this album. Because that is not typical 4 every black man. So this album is just madd tight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Real Hip Hop,

I appreciate the fact that T.I. actually has something new to say. I have alot of CD's where I can't listen to the CD without skipping a few tracks; I've never had to do this with Trap Muzik. Each track seems to flow to the next one ranging from topics about drug dealin' to his views on his mistakes as well as an Ode to his children on "I Still Luv You".If you've read any of his articles, you'd notice that he has alot to say and infact is a very intelligent young man. This fact comes across on his CD as well. There are a few club records on this CD,but you can't have a CD full of serious issues, because lets face it, even though that's something that we,as listeners, say we want, we wouldn't buy it.Therefore, it wouldn't sale. Overall, I think this CD is a step for Hip Hop in the right direction. I appreciate an artist who isn't afraid to show a softer side on their CD and T.I. does just that. I hope he continues to make music and continues to use his CD as a journal and diary into the life of T.I. because I,for one, will be sure to listen.

T.I is cleaver...he can deliver some awesome hooks as well as write some clean lyrics. I especially like the production of Trap Muzik. The beats are no doubt very good. T.I is able to deliver his lyrics in a manner that the listener wants to look up the lyrics and sing along, and bob their heads to the great beats. I give T.I props for keeping it real and having fun with it and delivering what the consumers want, hip-hop. So i no doubt RECOMMEND you pick up T.I don't sleep on another great artist.

Great Dirty South,

"Rubberband Man" has stayed on my top ten list for a loooong time, ever since I saw the video in late 2003. This guy's voice is addictive and has beats to compliment his awesome rapping style. He is blunt with all his subject matter and pulls it off quite well. His best song is definitely "Rubberband Man" and "24s" and "Let's Get Away" are also awesome singles to help sell his sophomore album. This is a must buy for any dirty south fan or any rap fan. |
