murky beauty,
This review is from: Trapdoor Fucking Exit (Audio CD)
For those (like me) not very familiar with the music loosely categorized as "noise", this is a great place to start. Though from the most well-known New Zealand noise band, the album still has some loose pop song structures that make it more acessible than most noise albums. If you like what you hear, you might be interested in music from Corpus Hermeticum, a record label run by Bruce Russels, one of the members of this group. He's very friendly and offers music from New Zealand at very reasonable prices!

Dead C,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trapdoor Fucking Exit (Audio CD)
This disc was recorded in december 1989-1990. Right in the middle of george bush's new world order. I never thought of this band as political. I should of known better with names like "white house" for albums. The picture of the palistinian freedom fighter on the back gives you a clue what this band is all about. The nearness of the gulf war ways heavy on this disc. Killdozer does the same critique of US policy. They do it with satire while THE DEAD C's brutal honesty is down right scary. They are pretty blunt, "I think I perfer the grass to the fucking concrete" from the song "mighty." In the song power they talk about the results of american imperilaism abroad, "Hell has come, My baby's been shot, I got no water." The album is full of dread for what was happening in Panama. What was about to happen in the gulf and what the state of Isreal continues to do the Palistinine people today. Much has been said about this bands archic drumming and noise laddent guitar. I don't think they are given engough credit for there simpel direct lyrics
