I'm a bit of a Shackleton buff but have struggled to find the right book to introduce him to my daughter. After several disappointments, we found "Trapped By the Ice." It is terrific! I highly recommend this book - have given several copies as gifts.

My 8-year old avid reader was thrilled to receive this gift and read it almost immediately.

This book is good for the kids, it skips some of the material covered in the movie to keep it short. The movie is great too.

"Trappped by the ice!" is a history book. It is about sir Ernest Shacklton. It is very high in drama. But it is a very good book. Shacklton had a lot
of people for his crew. His boat was trapped and giant blocks of ice were crushing the sides. So they got off the boat and set up camp. They hunt for seal and penguin meat.

I think you will like this book because it is about bravery and hope.


At the end of the story, they get rescued.
