2.0 out of 5 stars FROM A PERETTI FAN!!!
I have read almost all of his books---
that said---this was, by far, the weakest,
most far-tetched, absurd ""Cooper Kids""
book of the series. Aaaannnddd the whole
---""don't worry about it---GOD will take
care of it / me""---is over-the-top in this one!!!
Sorry---but---I'm still a Peretti fan!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea by Frank Peretti, August 30, 1997
By A Customer
This was a very fun book to read. It really shows how a Christian can survive in the worstof situations. This is an action adventure book that tells the story of how Lila survived in a weapons pod trapped at the bottom of the sea. Reader, age 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank Peretti scores again!, January 29, 2003
By
Dave (Lexington, Kentucky) - See all my reviews
It's Frank Peretti's brilliant novel writing skills...condensed! It's a super-cool family of archeologists--minus a mother--who investigate phenomena in the spirit of Indiana Jones, only with a Christian perspective. A nice alternative to the gore and junk in the Indiana Jones movies.

This time, all is NOT well in the Cooper family. Lila and her father part under unhappy terms, and she boards a military plane bound for the U.S. Things go ill, however, when the plane is hijacked and Lila finds herself locked inside a huge steel canister...Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea.

The Cooper men team up with Bad Dave, a local, lovable dude who helps them island-hop in order to rescue Lila before time runs out. Russian terrorists, angry natives (every book has to have them), and the miraculous love of God, all crammed into this cool little novel make it hard to put down. Parents and kids alike will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars a must read of the series, April 10, 2010
This one was really good. I can't decide between this one and the second book of the series. This one didn't revolve around the Cooper's being on site somewhere but the family learning things and coming together.

Peretti did a really good job using the story of Jonah from the Bible. Instead of a guy being put in danger like Jonah and the whale Peretti used a girl, Lila. Lila and her father both needed to learn a lesson. They did learn it through what they went through and for Dr. Cooper it was also someone that he met. I have aproblem with water so I don't know that I could have done as well as Lila, I could only hope so.

He had a new character for this story, Meaghan Flaherty. I'm hoping that she will be back in one of the other books. She is strong but kind and able to hold her own with a strong faith. Dr. Cooper is a widower and had built up a wall and in this one Flaherty was able to help him drop it.

The book ended with a very sweet moment between the Coopers. There was also a nice moment between Dr. Cooper and Meaghan even though they weren't together. It is a really good read for anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Suspense Book With A Great Christian Message, July 23, 2009

(VINE VOICE)
The Fourth Book in Frank Peretti's "Cooper Kids" series. We have read the first three books and couldn't wait to start this one. Although we are not quite done, we've found that the action is just as intense this time when the villain's are normal people - although can we ever call Communists "normal people"... ;-) This time the subject revolves around both Lila, and her growing unhappiness with her father (seen in flashbacks and memories throughout the book), and Dr. Cooper and his struggles to come to grips with the death of his wife during one of their archeological expeditions. As always Peretti treats the devout Christian lives of the Coopers as just another normal part of the story and, contrary to some Christian books, movies, or audio tapes that I've had, this aspect of their lives does not seem false or forced into the storyline in order to turn out a "Christian" product - when the Coopers stop to pray before making a tough decision it is an appropriate action that only helps to further the action.

Just as all the Cooper Kids books, the real message throughout the story is not the fantastic locales/enemies or gripping action and story telling, but the Christian values (faith, love, and perserverence immediately leap to mind) of the central characters. Always wonderful stories to be either read alone by your "tween" child (my 8 yr old could easly read the book alone), out loud at night as a bedtime story, or as part of a Bible curriculum for homeschoolers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Action packed, December 30, 2008

I didn't know what to get my religion class kids for Christmas until I read this. It's action packed Christian fiction. Think Indiana Jones. The reason I can't give it 5 stars is because it's outdated in places - the bad guys are Russians from the Cold War. All the same, I think it's a great book for reluctant readers.

I am a huge Indiana Jones fan and I saw this book in my schools library. It looked OK and I had already read the first three so I thought "Why Not?". I loved it. It is one of my favorite books.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Breath Taking Adventure... Especially for Lila, April 14, 2005
A Kid's Review
This is an awesome book. The only series I like better is the Harry Potter series. This in my opinion isn't the best of the series, but it got close because of the suspense. Door in the Dragon's Throat was better because it shows what happens to greedy people and has mystery and a lot of suspense. If I had to rate this book I would say it was an 8/10 because it follows a man of God and also because of the action, the suspense, and other reasons. I would recommend this for kids to adult because of the action, the suspense, and the amazing things that happen.

4.0 out of 5 stars My favorite series!, February 16, 2004
A Kid's Review
This was a good book--suspenseful to the end, as usual. The Cooper Kids adventures are my favorite books! Lila gets trapped in a weapons pod at the bottom of the sea. How will she escape? Will Dr. Cooper and Jay be able to find her? Filled with narrow escapes and suspense, you will enjoy this book from cover to cover. However, this book was not my favorite out of the Cooper Kids books, but it's still great.
