Fraioli to take home cooks on a rare odyssey into one of the world's most coveted food & wine cultures. Peek inside the kitchens of celebrity-studded restaurant Trattoria Grappolo and discover a prized collection of delicious, simple-to-prepare recipes from one of Central California's most venerated restaurants. Trattoria Grappolo is the best in Italian cooking with the simplest of ingredients, and also share a long list of suggested wine pairings from over 75 participating wineries. Included are recipes for antipasto, salads and soups, breads and pizzas, handcrafted pastas, entrees, desserts, and more.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Curti, executive chef and cofounder of Santa Ynez, Calif., bistro Trattoria Grappolo, aims to share his expertise in both his native Italian cooking and the California wine he serves alongside it. Unfortunately, the text introducing each chapter offers little insight into the ingredients, significance or origins of the dishes. Individual recipe introductions would be helpful in explaining the inclusion of American-inflected dishes like Insalata di Pollo, a salad of fried chicken, Romaine lettuce and gorgonzola cheese, in a cookbook of traditional Italian cuisine. The recipes themselves are a solid mix of familiar (Angel Hair with Fresh Tomato and Basil; Roasted Chicken with Fresh Lemon and Herbs) and intriguing (Risotto with Lamb Ragu; Grilled Lobster with Sage and Cannellini Beans). Each concludes with a very specific local wine-pairing suggestion, and a final section features sourcing information. With so many Italian cookbooks on the market, this one is most likely to appeal to fans of the restaurant—and, perhaps, fans of celebrities like Bo Derek and Ellen DeGeneres, whose gushing blurbs adorn the cover. Over 50 color photos. (Sept.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book From A Great Restaurant! January 5, 2009
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Grappolos is one of our favorite restaurants in the world - and we purchased this book in the restaurant. My wife is an incredible Italian chef - and this is one of her favorite cook books. In fact - we had to buy an additional copy for another house. The pizza recipes are incredible!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every recipe is perfect February 5, 2008
Format:Hardcover
This cookbook is so beautiful. I love when cookbooks allow me to see the dish before I cook it. These photos are really inspirational. I have already cooked 3 of the recipes and I have most of the book tagged to cook for upcoming meals. The book sits nicely in my cookbook stand and makes an attractive addition to my kitchen. A really beautiful book, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Italian Cookbook EVER !! December 11, 2007
Format:Hardcover
I visited Santa Ynez Valley very often but wasn't able to do it the last 10 years. So, I mist the oppurtunity to visit the Trattoria. But I promised to myself to do in the future. For now I enjoy the Cookbook. Is the best of ALL my Italian Cookbooks. I love the Photos. A lot of it (I don't like Cookbooks with few or no Photos because I have to SEE how it looks). Photos are from done Dishes or People, the Restraunt, Wines etc.. I love to cook but sometimes I have times I don't like to do it. But after I read the Book I had to make a List for Ingridients and can't wait to start. You got it all: Appetizer, Pasta, Fish, Poultry, Meat and Desserts. When you see the Photos the Food looks like you need to be a Chef to cook it but when you read the "how to do it", it's easy to understand and to do it. No exotic Ingridients. If you cook Italian Food you will have the stuff in your Pantry. The Book is a great Gift for People who like to cook or for yourself.
