Thank you for checking out my book.  Please beware that there are graphic scenes of a medical nature in this novel as well as some rather unsavory urban language within the text.

An intriguing book. I read in the author's notes that it was originally written as a screenplay. That makes sense of the way the book unfolds - an action-packed love story strung onto a classic three-act film structure. But as a novel, the story also works, and I really enjoyed getting to know these vibrant characters. While some of the plot points were a tiny bit predictable, the writing is solid and the story is eminently believable. However, where this book really shines is in the vivid descriptions from the POV of Brian, the main protagonist, as he goes about his daily business of (literally) saving lives. He's an EMT in some of the grittiest parts of New York and I was gripped by his perspective, his gallows humor and his life-saving techniques. The private diaries opening up each chapter were very effective. I hope to see much more of Brian. This character has a lot to offer the world.

I don't normally like tv hospital dramas or doctor themed movies, but Tom Hobbs really does a great job with Trauma Junkie. The medical situations feel very real, probably because Hobbs used to be an EMT. The plot is fast paced. There is a hint of predictability, but nothing that prevents you from wanting to read more. The dialog is snappy and really keeps the story moving. In fact, the smart remarks peppered with gallows humor was my favorite part. The other thing that struck me is how the paramedics interact with each other and with the people who are on the scene of a crisis. That felt very real. If you are a fan of medical dramas, then you will probably love this book. If you just like fast paced stories with a lot of action, then you'll still probably really like it. Definitely worth the buck.

Trauma Junkie moves like a freight train. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Brian Sheahan is the perfect damaged hero, who reminds people he's no hero. It's a gritty tale that pools you along with the detailed action, drama, and heartache. The cadre of twisted yet oh-so-human characters that follow Brian on the nightshift as a New York City EMT keep you laughing and crying until you're sure they couldn't do anything crazier, yet they surprise you time and again. Like Mel, Brian's Partner, a spicy vegetarian with a big mouth and an even bigger boyfriend. And Amber, who can cuss Brian out and save a man's life at the same time. That's what I call multi-talented.

If you like adrenaline stories with a good deal of heart and humor read Trauma Junkie. I'm going to go read it again, in case I missed something the first time around.

If you like action, drama, graphic scenes of paramedics treating trauma victims (and who doesn't?), then you will love TRAUMA JUNKIE. The newly revised, reedited version rocks along like an ambulance en route to a ten-car pile-up. Fall in love with Brian, the emotionally-damaged paramedic who will stop at nothing to save lives, all the while contemplating ending his own. One word of caution: don't start reading unless you have several hours to spend . . . you won't be able to put it down until you've turned the last page.

I loved this book, maybe because I love medical stuff. The characters were well developed and three-dimensional. I really cared about them. There is a lot of dialogue, and I consider that a good thing. It reminded me a little of some of Robert Parker's more recent mysteries, which are written almost entirely in dialogue.

This is better than your average 99 cent kindle book. I wasn't distracted by errors, the story has good pacing and good descriptions. Nice work. I'll be looking for more by this author.

Once I picked this book up I could not put it down. I stayed up until 3 am reading it the first night and finished it the next! The book has something for everyone, romance, humor, drama... I was afraid of waking others up around me because I was laughing and crying at the characters. You felt like you really knew who they were and felt their pain and joy. I can not wait until the next book comes out and I will be looking for other work by this author.

Trauma Junkie is a fun, fast read that drew me in from the beginning. The characters are well done and real. The dialog fast and entertaining, and the action was exciting and the emotions so authentic. I laughed and teared up. Both things I look for in a book, something with humor and heartwarming. I would recommend this book to my friends, and will. Mary Merrell

Trauma Junkie is a great read and hard to put down. I felt I was right there as they worked on the patients. The stories from the streets of New York City are done well as the author details the rides going to the emergencies and the difficuty of getting to the calls. As a former N.Y.C. medic myself I can tell you it made me feel like I was back riding on 06Victor. Great Job Tom.
