What happens when a suicidal paramedic falls in love with an ambulance chasing reporter?

Brian is going through a rough patch in his life. His wife, Amber, has divorced him and is remarrying a rich wall street

up, bottle in hand.

All he has left is saving lives, and saving them on his terms. That's not enough.

Enter Brooklyn, a fiery red headed stringer, who works the overnight selling video and stills to the New York media and
she's had a long standing crush on Brian.

She's out to prove that a paramedic isn't the only one who can save a life.

Thank you for checking out my book.  Please beware that there are graphic scenes of a medical nature in this novel as well as some rather unsavory urban language within the text.

3.0 out of 5 stars Keep it coming! May 28, 2012

An intriguing book. I read in the author's notes that it was originally written as a screenplay. That makes sense of the way the book unfolds - an action-packed love story strung onto a classic three-act film structure. But as a novel, the story also works, and I really enjoyed getting to know these vibrant characters. While some of the plot points were a tiny bit predictable, the writing is solid and the story is eminently believable. However, where this book really shines is in the vivid descriptions from the POV of Brian, the main protagonist, as he goes about his daily business of (literally) saving lives. He's an EMT in some of the grittiest parts of New York and I was gripped by his perspective, his gallows humor and his life-saving techniques. The private diaries opening up each chapter were very effective. I hope to see much more of Brian. This character has a lot to offer the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining! A good read! September 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved this book, maybe because I love medical stuff. The characters were well developed and three-dimensional. I really cared about them. There is a lot of dialogue, and I consider that a good thing. It reminded me a little of some of Robert Parker's more recent mysteries, which are written almost entirely in dialogue.

This is better than your average 99 cent kindle book. I wasn't distracted by errors, the story has good pacing and good descriptions. Nice work. I'll be looking for more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed / Smart dialog September 17, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition
I don't normally like tv hospital dramas or doctor themed movies, but Tom Hobbs really does a great job with Trauma Junkie. The medical situations feel very real, probably because Hobbs used to be an EMT. The plot is fast paced. There is a hint of predictability, but nothing that prevents you from wanting to read more. The dialog is snappy and really keeps the story moving. In fact, the smart remarks peppered with gallows humor was my favorite part. The other thing that struck me is how the paramedics interact with each other and with the people who are on the scene of a crisis. That felt very real. If you are a fan of medical dramas, then you will probably love this book. If you just like fast paced stories with a lot of action, then you'll still probably really like it. Definitely worth the buck.
