    Product Description

Like an adrenaline shot to the heart, Trauma is the first medical drama series set exclusively where the real action takes place – in the field. Cliff Curtis (Push) and Derek Luke (Notorious) star as ambitious heroes dedicated to one of the most dangerous professions in the world: first responder paramedics. When emergencies occur, the trauma team from San Francisco City Hospital is first on the scene, traveling by land, sea or air to reach their victims in time. From the heights of the city's Transamerica Pyramid to the depths of the bay, they must face the most extreme conditions to save lives – and give meaning to their own existence in the process. Executive Producer Peter Berg (TV’s “Friday Night Lights”) brings you every Season One episode of the gritty and unique series that critics praise for its “thrills with a human touch” (Tom Shales, The Washington Post).

Trauma dives headfirst into the world of paramedics and EMTs, following a team of first responders in San Francisco grappling with accidents, assaults, and catastrophes. Each episode teases your nerves; every scene that doesn't feature the regular cast is, quite literally, an accident waiting to happen, and some of those accidents are spectacular. Trauma makes the most of this tension by sneaky misdirection--what happens is rarely what you think is going to happen. Giving some balance to the nail biting are the personal lives of the paramedics, EMTs, and doctors. Boone (Derek Luke, Antwone Fisher) risks his marriage with infidelity; Nancy (Anastasia Griffith) vacillates between empathy and iciness; Marisa (Aimee Garcia, Go for It!) and Tyler (Kevin Rankin, Friday Night Lights) have secrets that could threaten their careers; and Rabbit (Cliff Curtis, The Last Airbender), a cocky, domineering helicopter pilot, is driven by personal demons that lead back to his childhood. While arguing and jumping into bed with each other, this raucous crew deals with car accidents, drug overdoses, drive-by shootings, domestic violence, fireworks gone wrong, snipers, hostage situations, and more. Trauma doesn't hold any surprises; it's solid formula television, capably executed and sincere. Basically, it's the classic 1970s series Emergency! on steroids and with more sex--in a clever touch, one of the stars of Emergency!, Kevin Tighe, appears in an episode as an old hand brought briefly out of retirement. Extras for Trauma: Season 1 include a commentary track for the pilot episode and lots of deleted scenes from the whole season. --Bret Fetzer

5.0 out of 5 stars As with the other good shows, it got the ax too soon November 23, 2010
When NBC first started advertising for this show back in 2009, I set my ancient VCR to record the episodes. After the explosive season premiere episode, I was hooked. I was heartbroken when the show was yanked off the air due to poor ratings (die American Idol die) and had to rely on the episodes on NBC's website until they were eventually taken down.

After the Jay Leno show tanked, NBC brought back Trauma, but unfortunately, the show was given the ax again (die DWTS die) and pulled from the lineup for good. NBC also did a poor job of hyping this show for its return. I didn't even realize the show was back on the air until I had missed the first two episodes. Thank God for high speed internet at work.

If you're in to the EMS rescue thing, try this show out. Taking place in San Francisco, this show follows the lives of paramedics, both in the ambulances and in the helicopters as well as their personal lives and daily struggles. Some of the later episodes deal with one of the characters having PTSD from a crash as well as a death when he was younger. This show is awesome. It reminds me sort of as a newer version of Third Watch starring the deliciously yummy Coby Bell. The humor that is woven in with the drama provides just enough balance to keep the show going and the romance adds in a little bit of flair, but it's not overdone as in soap operas.

What you get with this set is all of the episodes on DVD. I just wish NBC would have put all of the episodes on the disc rather than stopping at just the ones that were aired on TV. The series finale left us hanging and at least for me, it left me begging for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too Bad It Only Lasted One Season February 17, 2011
    Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
It took a little while to develop the characters in this series, but the last three episodes were really getting good. The characters had emotional depth and were believable. It's too bad that the network pulled the show before it developed its full following.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not purchase this disk set September 10, 2012
    Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
While the series Trauma that played on television was a good series, I cannot recommend anyone purchase this disk set as it is missing about 10 of the episodes. I thought this was a fluke, but this is the second one I have purchased and they only contain 8 shows on the disk out of the 18 that is listed.

I am very disappointed and pissed off that this was done. Amazon should be ashamed of this. You should have placed in the description that not all of the shows in Season 1 are on the 4 disks.

4.0 out of 5 stars BOX SET IS COMPLETE May 26, 2014
    By Chris
For those thinking this has only two episods per disc, it's because the MENU is the worst I've seen. You have to continue to click to the right after episode two on each disc. An arrow shows. Click on that arrow. It will take you to the next menu of episodes on that disc. Had me fooled for a bit.

Picked this up for $10 -- it was well worth it. We're almost finished the set.

The cover shows 18 episodes. The disks only have 8 (2 per disk).

This is a great series, just make sure your copy has all of the episodes.
