Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This book is the result of a $9 million four-year national mental health survey of Vietnam veterans' readjustment completed in November 1988. One of the survey's major tasks was to provide a true assessment of the extent and implication of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and recovery. Sponsored by the Veterans' Administration, research was carried out by Research Triangle Institute, Louis Harris and Associates, the Graduate Center of CUNY, Langly Porter Psychiatric Institute, the Hispanic Research Center of San Diego State University, and Equifax, Inc. The original technical report was published in an edition of only 150 copies. This revised report, with additional commentary and an appendix, provides comprehensive statistical information that should help influence public policy toward veterans for the next decade. It includes an epilog "self-guide" to symptoms and a directory of treatment resources. Recommended for larger collections.
