Book Description

Innovations in Psychology Series August 25, 1998
Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) explores a powerful regressive, repetitive, desensitization procedure becoming known in the therapeutic community as an extremely effective tool for use in the rapid resolution of virtually all trauma-related conditions. Replete with case histories and accounts of actual TIR sessions, this book provides a "camera-level" view of TIR by describing the experience of performing TIR.

Editorial Reviews

Review

TIR is unbelievably powerful. It not only eradicates the residual effects of specific traumata, it simply obliterates debilitating baggage of all sorts. Generations of clients-to-come will trace their restoration to wholeness to this profoundly important book by French and Harris. For its chapters on the subtle dynamics of therapist-client communication alone, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) should be required reading in helping professional curricula of every description.
-Robert H. Moore, Ph.D., CTS, B.C.E.T.S., Associate Fellow and Training Supervisor, Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy
We may not have a solution for many of the illnesses in this world. We may not have a cure for cancer or AIDS or arthritis. I believe that we have, with TIR, a cure for trauma-induced mental and emotional complications, even severe ones. With this in mind, I urge you to use the knowledge and the wisdom contained in this book to the best of your abilities. I think it will make quite a difference in the world...
- Peter Shefler, from the Foreword to this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Traumatic Incident Reduction, November 4, 2000
By
Bonnie Griffith (Valparaiso, Indiana United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) (Hardcover)
This easily read book could provide valuable insight to anyone in the helping field. The technique and result of TRI as described in this book are in keeping with other trauma reducing techniques such as EMDR, however, as the authors illustrate in the text and case histories, it is a verbal and client-centered approach, and clearly provides the opportunity for empowering clients. Recommended for the lay counselor, as well as, for the professional therapist as an insight into how trauma is integrated into current and past experiences.

Not just another technique for "management" or "assimilation" of intrusive trauma symptoms, TIR actually pulls PTSD, anxiety and panic disorders out by their roots, once and for all! In 30+ years of clinical practice, I've never known or used a more remarkably efficient and effective procedure.

"Wonderful ... French & Harris provide a wealth of information not only on handling clients suffering from known traumata and their squellae, but also on ways and means of effectively addressing feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes, beleifs and pains that have their roots in frequently forgotten incidents from the past."
