5.0 out of 5 stars A new look at Christianity, October 27, 2010

This review is from: The Travail of Nature : The Ambiguous Ecological Promise of Christian Theology(Theology and the Sciences) (Paperback)
Paul Santmire gives Christians - as well as their "cultured despisers" - a reason to give a second look at the tradition. His quite novel hermeneutical approach to historical theology yields a new panorama that is relevant to the ecological anxiety of our age. Although some voices are left out (notably women), Paul Santmire's clarity of thought and force of argument compel Christians to reconsider theology as a resource for renewing our relationship to the planet, and for non-Christians to give Christianity a fresh look, with new eyes to potential allies (who bear the name of Christ) in the fight for a right relationship to nature.
