5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and easy
Just returned from 2 weeks in Norway. We stayed in luxury hotels to out in the country funky places. This product worked easily in every plug. No problems and it's size makes it tuck in anywhere. Used it for my laptop and for my camera and toothbrush.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless
This product was useless. I brought it for use in France. However, every outlet I have encountered thus far is grounded (there is a prong sticking out at the top of the outlet). This adapter has no corresponding hole for the prong to slide into (there is an impression in the adapter, as if the mold COULD have left said hole, but no actual hole). Thus I had to buy another...

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, August 28, 2008
This product was useless. I brought it for use in France. However, every outlet I have encountered thus far is grounded (there is a prong sticking out at the top of the outlet). This adapter has no corresponding hole for the prong to slide into (there is an impression in the adapter, as if the mold COULD have left said hole, but no actual hole). Thus I had to buy another one, here, at almost 3 times the price. Don't buy this unless you know FOR SURE that the outlets where you are going aren't ground in this manner. Such a waste of money...

This review is from: Travel Accessories Samsonite Europe Grounded
Just back from a 9-day trip to Ireland. Wanted to be able to charge our laptop computer, and our cell phones. The Samsonite converter worked perfectly -- plug it into a wall outlet, and your item into the converter. Couldn't be simpler, and it never failed us. Seems to be a solid, well-built little device. Best $9.95 I've spent in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine but beware of the outlets!, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Travel Accessories Samsonite Europe Grounded
I have this plug and it works just fine. The great thing about this specific adapter is that it accepts US grounded, non-grounded 2 and 3 prong plugs, making this more useful than my little 2-prong plug adapter. Highly recommend.

However, I have encountered issues like other reviewers where the foreign outlets are grounded - they have a metal pin at the top which prevents using this plug. But this is an issue with the outlets and not the plug. I've solved that with a small, two-prong plug adapter (it only accepts a 2-prong like this adapter) that I carry with this and it works perfectly. Also, I've been using multiple adapters (stacked upon each other) for the last 5+ years with no issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works in Bosnia, Croatia & Slovenia, October 3, 2008
This plug is great! This plug worked for me in Bosnia, Croatia, and Slovenia. It was used for a Laptop, and a Ladies Hair Flat/Straightning Iron. I was so afraid of spending money and having the plug turn out to be cheap/or break on me, that I spent alot of time reading reviews of this style of plug. Samsonite offers a sturdy high quality plug here. Don't be afraid to buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great, a little hard to plug in, November 1, 2010
no problems with this, except that it was kind of a tight fit for the outlets we used (in France). A little hard to get in and out, but other than that worked perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for my trip in Europe, October 17, 2010

I used this adapter for two weeks in the Czech Republic and Austria in apartments, hotels, the international train, and the office. It allows you to use grounded US plugs such as for laptops and PCs in the EU, and that is why I bought this model. Most electronics with external AC adapters work for 100-240V @ 50-60Hz, which means they can work in Japan, Europe, and the US. The only problem is all the stupid outlets and plugs are different!

If you read the label on your AC adapter it should clearly state which voltage (V) and frequency (Hz) bands it supports. It won't convert the voltage or frequency, so be sure to check. Most laptops made for the US market are safe to use in Europe and Asia, but always check the voltages and frequencies supported by your device and the ones used in the countries you will be visiting. Better to be safe than sorry. Happy travels! :)

Went to Berlin and this adapter worked flawlessly. My friends had these 35 dollar all in one travel adapters that had problems plugging in or keeping a solid connection. Save some money and get this.
