There is a new connector appearing on some of the new phones out now. It looks like a rectangle, with one corner cut off.

My htc Tilt 2 has it, and so do others. Rather than paying $75 for the "correct" parts at the AT&T store, I decided to shop on-line.

I found this set for a very low price, and a reasonable shipping rate. "ca-ching!"

When my order arrived, I was disappointed, because what I got was a mini-usb set, such as is used on blackberry and others. I didn't open any of the wrappers, and was going to return the set. When I got home, I looked at my pile of mini-usb cables I already had, and I picked one up, and compared it to the phone port using a loupe to magnify, and convinced myself that it did not look like it would fit. Then I tried it anyway, like a good ape would. It fit! Not only did it fit, but it had a nice feel, as if it were mating the connector in a meaningful way complete with a click-like feel.

I tried putting it in upside down, and it did not fit. So it seems like the redesigned connector is really just mini-usb, with a different shape designed to look proprietary. I know the signalling is simply usb, because the cable that came with the phone is a simple usb cable with a unique end on the phone side. So after some tests, I found that all of my miniusb cables and blackberry adapters work fine with the new htc Tilt 2 phone. So I didn't really need this set after all, but it was such a good price, I kept it anyway.

So the message I have for those out there with the new connector that looks like a rectangle with a missing corner... It is simply mini-usb in disguise!

Received item quick, but saw that all 3 products have mini USB plug, different from HTC Tilt 2 modified female plug, thought it was wrong item. Contacted seller - they do fit just fine, and work! If you have other mini USB cables or 5V chargers with mini USB at home, try those, they will work as well! But for the price and convinience of having a charger everywhere - get this trio, and you will cover all your bases!

The home/wall charger has a slight high pitched buzz when it's plugged into the wall but not into the phone but it works great and charges very quickly. As soon as you plug in the phone it stops making the sound.

The rapid car charger also charges the phone very quickly and I haven't noticed any hum or noise. The USB works as expected -- does not rapidly charge the phone. Takes several hours but it works for me to just have it plugged in at work so I can access songs while keeping it charged throughout the day.
