1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy, August 21, 2007
This review is from: Travel Coffee Burr Grinder - Small
I was quite excited when I first received my package and wasted no time in giving it a spin. After standing there spinning the handle for what seemed like an eternity there was barely any coffee grinds coming out. I told myself maybe I was doing something wrong. After adjusting the screw at the bottom to control coffee grind size and making sure I was spinning in the right direction sure enough I was doing everything right. I tried just about everything: from shaking the thing, turning the handle both slow and fast, orienting the grinder in different directions but it's no use.

3.0 out of 5 stars It has its strengths, December 11, 2008
This review is from: Travel Coffee Burr Grinder - Small
If you have never used a manual coffee grinder before, a manual of any type is going to cause you to run back to electric the first time you start grinding. To make 5 cups of coffee, you will be grinding for 10-20 minutes, solid. With an electric, it's 10-20 seconds.

But if you have the time, and you have the reason for the manual grinder, it does get the job done. This is my backup grinder, and when I have time to kill sometimes I use it. Also, it's great for camping trips matched with the percolator.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding PEPPER mill, April 12, 2008
This review is from: Travel Coffee Burr Grinder - Small
I bought one of these years ago to use as a pepper mill, not a coffee grinder. It is OUTSTANDING for that purpose. It cranks out huge volumes of finely ground pepper with each turn of the crank. I could take off one star for durability, it's not in the same league as the all metal or wood+metal peppermills, but the burr grinder is so outstanding that I'm rating it 5-stars overall.

Other than durability (I'm in the market for a new one now, can't find one...) the only downside is: Unsuspecting dinner guests tend to ruin their meals by cranking this thing seven or eight times like they would with an ordinary grinder, and then proceeding to dump out the about half a tablespoon of ground pepper in the receptacle...
