Sooooooo helpful, and funny,
By
This review is from: How to Travel Practically Anywhere (Paperback)
I travel all the time and I found this to be incredibly helpful with great tips on hotels, airlines, car rentals, etc. It has saved me a LOT of time - I can go directly to the relevent website rather than surfing around for hours. Her anecdotes are also pretty funny - well-written.
This is great for both frequent and infrequent travellers. A superb resouce; everything from immunization information to travel travel tips to solo-traveller websites.

Susan Stellin hits the nail on the head with this incredibly useful guide. I was planning a spring trip, and her book came just in time. She had an answer for every nitpicky question I had. And here's a suprise -- a guide book that's fun to read.

This book is comprehensive and very helpful; a book people who travel should have in their libraries. Before I buy books, I usually check them out at the library and purchase only the books which I want to own them for further readings. This is a book well worth owning

Travel Planning Resource,
This review is from: How to Travel Practically Anywhere (Paperback)
Bought this book because it is so current and full of up-to-date information that I could not imagine not owning it. Already it has saved us several hundred dollars on recently purchased airline tickets. It is a "must have" for the "do-it-yourself" traveler with concise tips and tricks and useful web links. Checked out a pile of "How To" travel books at the library and this one was way ahead of the pack. Thanks to the author for her foresight, exceptional research and providing us with this valuable resource.

Expert Advice for Every Situation,
By bob "bob5000" (Colorado Springs, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: How to Travel Practically Anywhere (Paperback)
This is by far the best book I have read about travel. It covers all phases, from transportation to lodging, from preplanning to on-site emergencies, I doubt you'll find a situation this book doesn't cover. It is encyclopedic in its scope, incorporating the latest websites and an evaluation of their content and relevance to your needs. The book is well laid out, and the explanations simple, comprehensive and readable. For example, I finally understand all the different car rental insurance coverages they always push and you wonder if you'd really need. She even evaluates the travel guides so you know their strengths and weaknesses, which I think are spot on.
I have never taken a cruise, but after reading that section, I feel like I know everything I need to do to book a memorable experience. I would say this book is indispensible for planning a trip. Even if you've done a bit of traveling, you'll likely find some things you never knew. I would bring this book along with me on my next trip, esp. overseas. If you are planning to travel, this will be one of the best investments you'll ever make.

Useless for any internet savvy experienced traveler,

I bought this book based on all the 5 star reviews. I found the book useless except for a couple of tips.
I am internet savvy and travel enough that the web tips and travel tips were all old news. I wish I had not bought this book. I can see how someone that is new to using the internet for booking travel would find this useful. However, if you know your way around sites like [...] you won't find this book useful.

She has some really fundamental ideas one might not have thought of. Also, she doesn't give too much detail on things such as airfares, she tells of the basic, but not lots of details, although she does have good info on other things.

A chapter for everyone,
This review is from: How to Travel Practically Anywhere (Paperback)
I love to travel and have traveled a lot. This book had a lot of useful information. It covers the basics plus a lot of little known tips and tricks.
There were chapters that didn't interest me but they might be what you're need to read. I recommend this book.
