Travel Tips & Trips For Seniors

"Never travel anywhere if you have to get shots before, or re-enter the food chain after. Avoid places where bugs, animals, people or prices might bite!" says Author James Toland in his new book: "Travel Tips & Trips For Seniors."

Travel writer Toland takes us from California’s best unrestored ghost towns to Hawaii’s thrilling volcanoes, Alaska’s magnificent glaciers, and Europe’s best sites — and deals. Toland guides us through unique and exciting destinations — always keeping an eye on what seems to work best for the mobile, senior traveler. Constantly seeking a bargain, Toland’s sense of humor and celebration of travel spark vivid imagery. His street-savvy tips provide a safety net for the novice and veteran alike. And Toland shares a unique personal travel history that is as fascinating and amusing as his destinations.

"Better, smarter, cheaper" is Author James Toland’s travel philosophy. His Tips & Trips can easily save travelers 10 times the cover price of this book — and more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tip: Read this Book!, October 2, 2002

James Toland did all the 'homework' and then shared his findings on travel tips that is so informative. I've never been on a cruise ship before but can hardly wait to prod my husband into taking me since we already know what to expect and what to look out for! This is not your typical travel journal book -- it is a much more fun read! James Toland has such a witty way with words, and I found myself laughing out loud (find out why he's always on time for plane boarding!) I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, informative and intelligently written, October 26, 2002

What a great book! I found it very informative for those of us approaching seniorhood who may tend to plan a vacation a bit differently than when we were in our twenties or thirties. I especially enjoyed the humor and personal anecdotes Toland incorporated into a very valuable travel guide. I will definitely use this book in planning future trips.

So many travel books can be such a bore! Not the case here. "Travel Tips & Trips for Seniors" is an entertaining read even if you're not planning a vacation. But, if you are trying to pick a destination or are worried about travel, make this your first read. Author James Toland has some great suggestions and good, common sense advice.
