Product Description

Whether you are traveling to or from the US, which uses 110V, to any country that uses 220V power, you can use this adapter for your small appliances. Dual channel voltage converter from 110V/120V up to 220V/240V and also from 220V/240V down to 110V/120V. Works with devices up to 80 Watts, such as hair driers, irons, or coffee makers. Has AC117V --- AC230V switch, Power indicator light and Surge protection. Compact and ideal for travel. You may require additional prong adapters. Here is how to use it: 1. Check your appliance's label or manual to make sure it does not require more than 80 watts of power. This adapter can only be used with devices of 80 watts or less. The device should also be compatible with both 50Hz and 60Hz frequencies, otherwise it may malfunction. 2. Next, set the switch on the back of the adapter. --- If your appliance was intended for use with 110V outlets (US style), then push the switch to the side that says AC117V. For example, if you have a hair dryer that was made for US outlets, but you want to use it in Europe, you would set the switch to AC117V. --- If your appliance was made for 220V outlets, you should set the switch to AC230V. Then you can use the device with US-style 110V outlets. 3. Plug your appliance into the adapter, and lastly, plug the adapter into the wall outlet. You may need a separate prong adapter for different outlet styles. Please do not use the adapter for long periods of time, it is intended for short-duration uses.

With that said, the company did offer me a refund and it is currently in the process.

This converter is a voltage divider when working from 220V to 110V, or voltage doubler when working from 110V to 220V.

In fact the instruction on the box in Chinese is the correct one, but not many people can read it I guess.

People complain that there is no useful instruction for this product. Here is one:

For those in NORTH AMERICA where the city power system is 110V:
1) Set the switch to 117V
2) plug-in your 220V device
3) The device should work :)
(if you make a mistake and set the switch on 220V, nothing bad happens: Your electronic equipment will just not sense enough voltage to turn on)

For those in the EUROPE where the city power system is 220V:
1) Get a European plug converter for the adapter.
2) Set the switch to 220V.
3) Plug-in your 110V device.
4) The device should work :)
(if you make a mistake and set the switch on 117V, NASTY stuff happens: Your adapter and electronic equipment will most likely burn - read other people's comments to see what I mean)

Hope it clarifies things a bit.

I brought this item for a trip to the UK I needed to recharge my camcorder battery 1st there are no instruction and is a very small switch on the rear. It switches the voltage step up to 220v or step down to 110v it is not marked unless you have a magnafing glass. I plugged it in via a UK adapter not only did it burn out the adapter it took out my Battery charger and knocked out the power to 5 rooms in the hotel were I was staying
Lets just say I was not a happy camper and due to the fact I was in Europe it cost me well over $100.00 to replace the items to recharge my camcorder!!!

The product works well provided you manage to understand the instructions, they are very confusing.
This converter is a voltage divider when working from 220V to 110V, or voltage doubler when working from 110V to 220V. So if you are living in the us and want to plug a 220V device, the best case scenario is that you set the converter up (with a switch) as a doubler and no problem, OR, you set it up as a divider and you device doesn't run because you get half a 110V instead of 220V. BUT, if you are in south america and want to plug a 110V device and you set the converter as doubler, YOU might destroy your equipment.
Worst thing in my case? the product was USED (scratches and partially removed painted labels) when I actually paid for a NEW product. I wouldn't recommend the seller and the crappy instruction manual. Nothing bad to say about the product itself.

This item is great. As a German Immigrant I'm having quite a bunch of electronic appliances that are 220V and i won't tear myself away from them. This is a good and small reliable product. I recommend it for anyone who shares the same past with me. Did I mention it comes with a gift? I love it and for the cost worrying folks it hasn't sparked my power bill into oblivion.

Bought this to run my electric train set I brought back from overseas. Works perfect! Setting it for 110v, or 220v is a little tricky as the switch is small and hard to read the small print. Instructions in English would be helpful. But, having used these type of converters before it was a SNAP! Problem solved, worked like a charm.

I never heard of an electronic device without any warranty.
There is always first time... :-(
Don't buy. When it brakes (and it did after 2 months of use) - you lost your money.

This product should not be sold, much less used by anyone. It is a very high risk to equipment. The instructions are unclear, and just what the device does is not clear either. If you treasure your camcorder, rechargers, or other equipment, don't use this. I am surprised Amazon sells it without giving adequate warning.

I asked a relative to buy something I wanted in asian, but when I got the product, it was in 220v, and this solved my problem pretty good.
