Sleep for the first time,

I bought two of these for a trip to Hawaii (actually more for the red-eye return). Using this, great earplugs (see review for HEAROS), and an inflatable cushion (Therma-Reat) allowed me to sleep for the first time. I have made this trip five times and never slept a wink. This time I slept about five hours of the eight hour return trip. My wife loved it too and has used it in the car.

Used the TravelRest to and from London. Much better than a horseshoe type pillow. Wrapping around yourself rather than the seat is the most practical deployment--that way you don't need to "invade" your neighbor's private space. I'd would have liked to see a larger version (lengthwise) because it seemed a little tight on a big guy.

I purchased the TravelRest for a trip I was taking at the end of 2009. I've never been able to easily sleep on a plane, as my head would always fall forward and I'd wake up, or I'd get a stiff neck from leaning my head back. The TravelRest alleviated this problem! As it states, it took only 3-4 breaths to blow it up, and I positioned it like the picture shows so that my head leaned against the top part of the "pillow". I was able to sleep without my head falling forward or off to the side. I did have a window seat, so I comfortably leaned toward the window as opposed to the person sitting next to me - I'm not sure if I could be as comfortable using it if I had a middle seat or an aisle seat. Guess it depends on how self-conscious you are if you are sitting next to a stranger.

For overnight flights, worth its weight in gold,

I fly a lot to Europe and Asia, in addition to West Coast to East Coast red-eyes. Over the years, I had tried the standard "horseshoe" neck pillows that we've all seen: I tried the inflatable ones, the ones filled with foam, the ones filled with buckwheat hulls, etc., etc. During each flight, I would fidget and fuss and try to get comfortable with the neck pillow, then eventually I give up, stuff it under my seat, and resign myself to reading instead of sleeping.
Out of desperation, I bought this product based on the incredible reviews. I was skeptical, but it was small (unlike the foam-filled neck pillows) and cost no more than a bad airport meal. So I gave it a try on a flight to India. I was amazed. The crazy thing works! It's hard to describe how different this thing feels compared to a traditional neck pillow, but it's far more comfortable. It stays in place and seems to be a much better fit for the way your body and head want to position themselves when sleeping in an airplane seat. At last, an ergonomic airplane pillow. In terms of price per hour of sleep, this product is a great investment. I'm glad I took a chance and bought it. I won't take another intercontinental flight without it. Kudos and thanks to the person/team that designed it. After using this pillow for several months, I recently (a few weeks ago) bought the new microfleece cover. It puts a soft, cozy cover on the TravelRest pillow. The cover is very light weight and takes up minimal additional room. It takes a few minutes to fit it onto the pillow, but it's well worth it. It makes an already great product even cozier. I know it sounds crazy to heap such lavish praise on a mere travel pillow, but this pillow really has made the difference between getting a few hours of sleep and no sleep at all on overnight flights. It's great.

We loved this travel pillow! I've never quite understood the design of the u-shaped ones, but this one really hits the spot. I used this on a recent vacation to Europe, and I couldn't have been happier. Apparently, it was all the buzz with the flight attendants who, unbeknownst to me, were checking it out while I was deep in my slumber. What a great find!

I love this pillow. I travel about 2x/mo and have struggled sleeping on a plane mostly because I can't sleep sitting up with my neck forward or cocked to one side. This pillow allows you to lean on it like if you were laying your head on the person next to you. I'm very happy with it. Easy to inflate and deflate and small to shove into a pocket of your suitcase or purse. Plus you can't beat the price. Very happy with this purchase!
Oh and keep your instructions because different seats might require you to wrap the string around them differently. The instructions give you multiple ideas on how to do that.

I bought this on a whim when I was facing an 11 hour flight to/from South America with a somewhat strained back - really helped me sleep on the plane. Much more comfortable to be able to rest my head to one side without straining my neck. Definitely will go in my carryon for my overseas flight next week. Love how small it rolls up too. What a smart invention!

Saw this thing first in an over-priced airport concession. Tried the thing out for about 5 minutes and my wife really liked it. Ordered the thing and then attempted to us it on a 14 hour flight to Asia. After inflation, the unit is like a stiff banana and at least for me, uncomfortable. The top piece curves around too much and the material gets sweaty. After a while, the pillow would slip down and the bottom would come up under the arm.
This thing is no good if you tend to slouch a bit in the seat - it would bob up and lift my chin. My wife didn't like it much after about 10 minutes as well. In the end, it developed a slow leak and we just threw it away. So, if you never slouch in the seat and sit bolt upright like the models in the picture you should be fine. A regular pillow, inflatable cervical collar or just a rolled up blanket provided superior support. Would not buy again - a gimmick for us.

We bought one of these for every person in our family for a long, overnight flight. Both my kids complained about them and wanted us to take them off. My husband wrestled with his for hours and finally gave up. I kept mine buckled and fought through it. I was determined, with all the money we spent, that at least one of us would try to use it to get some sleep. It's hard to describe why they weren't comfortable. They just weren't. I read the reviews before I bought them. And, they sounded good. They did NOT work for all four of us. We'll go back to the pillows you blow up and wrap around your neck.

We bought them but haven't been on a trip yet, so I gave it 4 stars. The pillow seems to work when we are sitting on the couch and we are looking forward to a trip to try them out!
