Look, this is not going to sound like your $1000+ ukulele, in either volume or quality. But it goes ANYWHERE. It fits in a standard school backpack. It's solid wood, so you don't have to worry about breaking it. It's quiet: I actually practiced on a plane (took up almost no room in my carry-on), and neither the people in front or in back of me could really hear it over the jet engine noise. (This can be a bit of a problem: If the noise is loud enough, you can't hear yourself!). I can play it in hotel rooms. I can play with someone napping in the next room at home. I CAN PLAY! And it's not some fake experience, it's the real deal: You can keep up your calluses. :)

It's a bit weird at first to not have a head piece, or to have a body to brace against. But you get past that pretty quickly, and then you're just playing a uke. The neck is concert size: My other uke is a tenor, and it's pretty easy to switch. It comes with a High G.

Some cons:
It's a bit hard to tune: It's hard to find a place to clip on your tuner, it's a bit thick for some tuners, and because the strings go around the bottom, you have to "turn the peg, push down on the string to equalize tension, play, lather, rinse, repeat". It also drifts somewhat over time. You can't just stick a set of headphones in--at least none of mine worked. I tried some things like plugging it into my laptop's mic port and some computer speakers, but those sounded pretty bad. It works well with a guitar practice amp. I might get a headphone amp at some point for really noisy places, but the natural volume is good enough for most situations, so I haven't bothered.

I received this 2 days before writing this review. So far I like this ukulele, it is concert size and is just right for me and once you get the right setup with an amp it sounds great and I haven't found anything I don't like except the cord plugs in the bottom end at the top, I would prefer it plug in at the bottom but I just used a cord with an angled plug so the cord hangs down. I use a Fender Frontman 10G amp with headphones, without the amp you can hardly hear the sound and you can play as loud as you want without complaints from the neighbors using the headphones. But I ordered the Vox amPlug AC30 Guitar Headphone Amp to use with it. I think it is a nice ukulele for the price. I haven't figured out why they needed a wrapped C string instead of having it nylon like the GEA strings. I have it tuned to High G but might try it set at Low G since it is a wound string. Tuning it wasn't a problem, just remember that the two tuners closest to the bridge are for the G and the A strings, or outside strings. You will not hit the tuners when you play, I know I tried. I will update my review later, good or bad, if you have any questions ask. I bought mine from SamAsh and had it delivered in two days. I was going to get the Risa solid concert ukulele but decided on this one.

I am frankly a little amazed by this uke.

The photos on the site don't have anything that really lets you see scale and so the photos and dimensions don't really let you appreciate just how small this uke is. It's surprisingly small. Even in the case it easily fits in a carryon without having to turn it diagonally. However, despite being tiny, there's no mistaking how solid and well-made it is. This is not a uke you'll need to baby. I'll never hesitate to pack it along anywhere I go, from vacations to camping trips . I added a photo that shows it next to a CD case so you can get a better idea of scale.

At first I was afraid it might be so small that it would be hard to play, but that isn't the case. It does take a bit of use to get used to the lack of a headstock, but within a very few minutes I was playing with no trouble. I would recommend getting a strap because the lack of a body makes it a bit hard to hold it in exactly the same position. The position of the strap keeps it from moving around and also lessens the tendency to roll a bit as you change chords and with a strap in place it's really very stable.

I'm looking forward to being able to take this with me anywhere I go, and it's a good opportunity to play around with amplification and effects. I'm not sure I'd want it as my only uke, but I can't imagine a better solution for travelling.

Great little travel uke. I use it with the iRig from IKmultimedia so I can play through headphones on my iPhone. I sounds great.
