Book Description

January 13, 2009
Instructed in the Wiccan path by her mother and father, Abigail is a solitary Witch and very accomplished for her young age. After her mother's sudden death leaves her feeling isolated and alone, she finds solace in the art of witchcraft and dedicates herself to the study of the Old Ways. Between her father's new girlfriend, and being caught in a love triangle with her childhood friend Vic and fellow witch Erica, seventeen year old Abigail finds herself growing quickly dissatisfied with her life and the world. Seeking comfort, she reclaims her mother's extraordinary antique bed as her own, hoping the energy it holds will help ease her pain. But Abigail soon discovers that the bed, and the ghostly power it contains wants more than just to help her. It wants to be her.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise, December 13, 2009
This review is from: The Traveler (Paperback)
When this book was recommended to me, I sort of rolled my eyes and agreed to read it to shut my friend up. I mean, I'm old. Married. Have three small children. Don't practice Wicca. So I sort of thought that reading a young adult novel about Wicca was a touch on the ridiculous side. But I like my peace and quiet and if it meant less nagging from my friend, then I was all over it. To my shock, I couldn't put this book down. Mr. Smith writes in a way that draws you in and makes you NEED to know what's going to happen on the next page. The Traveler is an easy, interesting read and I'd recommend it to anyone. And now I have to grudgingly admit to my friend that she was right. I HATE that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down, April 1, 2009
This review is from: The Traveler (Paperback)
I read this book every day on my lunch break at work. It was so hard to stop, I was even late to return to work a couple of times. Great story and easy to read. I thought it was incredible that a book like this, from a girl's perspective, could have been written so well by a man! Absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone who has not had the pleasure of reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first novel, March 13, 2009

This review is from: The Traveler (Paperback)
Sol Smith has written a great novel, which just happens to be his first; it's imaginative, unique, poetic, and puts the reader right in the moment, racing toward the heart-thumping, satisfying ending. One need not be Wiccan to appreciate this novel. Smith creates an entire world built around Wiccanism, and his characters truly bring it to life. This is a writer to keep an eye on.
